I'm having trouble with my sub making a loud poping sound when I turn the celing fan, lights, even lights in a nearby room on/off. I went behind my entertainment system and disconnected everything. I mean EVERYTHING from the receiver, the outlet, etc.. I plugged the sub (which is on the otherside of the room on a different outlet) into the wall, and plugged the sub cable into the back of the sub, then I ran the sub cable along its normal route to the back of the receiver, but did NOT plug it into the receive. so basically i've got a powered up sub, with no input signal..but an input wire hooked up. I flipped the switch ...no sound...works great. Then I plugged the sub wire into the back of the receiver and plugged the receiver in (nothing else hooked up). Flipped the switch..the pop is back. So I left the sub plugged in...but unplugged the power cord of the receiver. IT STILL POPED. So, no matter if the receiver is plugged in or not, as long as the subcord is plugged into it...it's poping. I'm lost? could I have a faulty receiver? I'm going to try a better shielded sub cable tomorrow, but i'm not sure that's the problem. Any other ideas?
