Receiver upgrade....?

Here is my setup:
Yamaha HTR-5940
Yamaha NS-C444 centers (front & back)
Yamaha NS-555 front
Yamaha NS-333 rears
Samsung Plasma PN50A650

Dont know if I should upgrade to a new receiver or not. When I get my blue ray player I am wanting to connect to T.V. with HDMI for video only, and to receiver with optical for audio. Any suggestions? Would a receiver with HDMI connection be a better bet?

Certainly, an HDMI receiver would be better, but not really necessary, if you don't want to buy one right now. But I wouldn't use the optical for audio. I'd get a BD player that decodes internally, with the 5.1/7.1 multi-channel analog outputs (like the Sony BDP-S550 or Panasonic BD55), and connect them to the receiver for audio. That way, you can listen to the Dolby TrueHD and dtsHD MA soundtracks on blu ray movies, as well as the regular DD and DTS tracks on regular dvds.
