Has anyone mentioned Make Way For Tomorrow (1937) - directed by Leo McCarey?It was originally a Paramount release.
They'll have to include a package of Kleenex in every case.

One of the greatest tear-jerkers of all time. I read somewhere that Leo McCarey, after winning the Best Director Oscar for You Can't Take It With You, is said to have remarked that he won it for the wrong film that year. That he should have received it for Make Way For Tomorrow. So Criterion comes to the rescue of a great film once again! |
