Remote control sensor is dead

My Toshiba 57H81's remote control sensor has gone on strike. Does anyone know of any work-arounds, fixes, effective swear words, etc. that might remedy the situation?

Any suggestions appreciated.

wow.
Was it ever tweeked? (ie: duvetyne inside the cabinet). Perhaps some of the cloth has fallen and now covers up the sensor.

No tweaks or trauma as far as I know. It loss functionality over a two month period. It started responding slowly then only occasionally and then just quit entirely.

I'm not sure if there is a DYI fix or not.
