The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

Re: Weekly RoundUp 3-24-2009

Alright, I was waiting for Patrick's placecard for the #2 spot. I guess I'll be getting the Lilo & Stitch Big Wave Edition & BOLT Deluxe Edition at Target. It doesn't matter which sd-dvd you buy of BOLT with Lilo to save the $10 does it Mike? Quantum of Solace 2 disc I'll buy wherever it's cheapest (no BB here). I'll probably get it at Wal Mart & even if it's $24.99 I can use my brother's 10% discount. Thanks Mike & Patrick for the roundup.

They don't say so in the flyer, Bill. You should be able to pick up whichever one you'd like.

There was some talk last week of people getting a coupon at Target for $5 off any James Bond disc. I actually went there and made a purchase a couple of days ago hoping to get such a coupon. Does anyone know any more about this?

If so, I might go there to get Bolt on BD tomorrow.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 3-24-2009

Thanks as always Mike & Patrick for the Weekly RoundUp!

Disney's release strategy for Bolt is really creative: release the Blu-ray version on Sunday (and include the SD-DVD), and then release the SD-DVD versions on Tuesday. I'd be curious to find out if this significantly increases their Blu-ray sales for Bolt.

Anyway, I'm picking it up tomorrow and so, here are some Bolt Blu-ray prices:

I'll be picking up some Bond Blu-rays this week but I'm still waiting to see if Fry's will have the same sale they had on the first wave of releases. I believe they were around $15 each.

Hey Mike,

I did get a coupon at Target that is good for $5 off any Fox or MGM blu-ray disc purchase; it is valid until 3/31. I think it's totally random though as to whether you'd get one or not at checkout.

Hi Ron,

The Matrix streets on the 31st. And if I am not mistaken, that will be the official tenth anniversary date of the film's release.

Also, for those who may be looking to get the Bond BD exclusive set at Best Buy this week (the one with QOS, Man W/Golden Gun and License To Kill), apparently that is a misprint. The HDRoom checked with Fox PR about the set and they said that Golden Gun and License won't be released until May.

I can't get the $10 off coupon to print. I installed the app using both IE8 and Firefox and I get stuck at the page showing the computer icon sending info to the printer icon.

Why can't they just put an insert in the Sunday coupon section??

The coupons are generated in two ways:
1. some are completely random (usually for Target branded products)
2. some are based on the purchase or your purchase history (I have a Target Visa and sometimes get coupons for items that I have purchased in the past).

Make sure that you have a local printer (i.e. not a networked printer on another computer) and it is set as the default printer. Also, it must be a physical printer and not an image printer (i.e. PDF printer).

Normally, I'd be all over Star Wars: The Clone Wars but I'll wait until the season set comes in a few months. And the same goes for Tales Of The Black Freighter disc which will most likely be in Watchmen in a couple months.

I'll be doing the BD of Bolt with Lilo and Stitch on Tuesday to take advantage of the $6 off plus the Disney coupon up thread. I've got the new Bond's (Quantum of Solace, Moonraker, Goldfinger and The World is Not Enough) on order from Amazon. Prolly grab the other three Bond Steelbooks I don't have from Wave 1/2 with the $24.99 each sale. And maybe Never Say Never Again...just because I'm a completist.

In other words, heavy heavy week.

Thanks Jason, Eric & Jeff!

I actually even bought a DVD at Target (and paid more than I probably would have otherwise) figuring that a DVD purchase might trigger the coupon.

I would love to have one for QoS this week. I figure to go use one of those $10 coupons on Bolt at Target today...so I'll be tryin' again!

The oddball Fred Meyer offers this week are:

With purchase of either version of Bolt, you get $3 off if purchased with any Kellogg's cereal. (Am I missing some joke here?)

Probably not if the store where I got Bolt Blu today is any indication. They had large displays of the Bolt SD discs (both 1 and 2-discers) at both store entrances, with the BD copy I got in the electronics section being the only one I saw.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 3-24-2009

From all the anecdotal evidence I'm reading, it looks as though a staggered BD/DVD release is only going to work if there's at least a week between the two. A lot of retailers aren't picking up on the fine nuances in Disney's program (because it's just so hard to read and follow directions), which will definitely throw a wrench in the works if they're hoping to pull any conclusive data from the advance BD release.

It's Bolt on Blu-ray and Lilo & Stitch SE this week for me. Oh, how I wish Lilo was coming to Blu . . . but I've waited long enough for this 2-disc set (I've held off on the original release for over six years because of the rumors about this set), I can't hold out any more! The Target deal plus the $10 coupon look to be the best bet on this, unless Amazon pulls something really amazing out of their hat.

That's not surprising, Tony. The Wal-Mart I referenced in my last post had at least one of the Bolt displays paired with a Twilight display so they probably just threw all the Bolts on it when they put Twilight out yesterday.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 3-24-2009

I think Disney's strategy is interesting and good in concept. The anecdotes seem to indicate that the retail execution is another matter. You'd think that releasing it earlier than the SD and including a digital copy and a standard dvd would help boost the Blu-ray sales numbers a bit.

I picked up Bolt today and I may pick up a few of the Bonds this week.

I hope you're incorrect, because I just placed an online order for in-store pickup of Gift Set #3 + the Best Buy exclusive 3-pack set of QoS, LtK and TMwtGG . Oh, and the online prices of the gift sets are $2 less than the Sunday ad. So, #3 $57.99 + $59.99 for exclusive 3-pack - $25.00 = me happy!

Target took the coupon tonight for Bolt on BD. $27 - $10 = $17.

I purchased the pasta at Target as well (so it's on the very same receipt for the rebate!) and I'll get that right in the mail tomorrow.

$17 - $4 = $13. That's awesome!

But still no $5 coupon at the register.

Disney's Bolt Coupon

I also have the $10 off coupon from Disney. From Mike, I know that Target accepts the coupon. Does Best Buy accept it? There's a Best Buy close to where I live and both Targets (brand new; opened this month) are farther away.

Is there any other retailer that accepts this coupon?

Re: Weekly RoundUp 3-24-2009

I have printed the $5 dvd coupon for BOLT (2 disc) & I'll be buying it & Lilo & Stitch SE so it should be: $22.99 + $15.99 - $5 coupon & the register should knock $10 off the combo. Which is basically $23.98 + tax for the 2 double disc sets. If it works that way, not too shabby. Then 2 Bonds at Wally world with little brothers 10% discount (QofS SE & NSNA). Busy day but a lot of savings.
