Our dog had puppies, kinda neat.

Well our Pomeranian had a party with our little dachsund girl and now 2 months later pups.

We call them Dachs-eranians but seems breeders call them Dameranians, yuck.

these little guys are growing quick.

most of them have doubled in size in 5 days.
they were born last friday, the 13th.

6 pups, and they all came out fully covered with fur.
We really expected they wouldn't have any fur right away.

I'll try and get some pics up here.

Re: Our dog had puppies, kinda neat.

Dameranians is an unfortunate name. My first thought was Jeffrey Dahmer. Yuck.

They're cute, should be interesting to see how they change as they get bigger, puppies at this age are always so generic looking.

Surprised you got so many. I had an Italian Greyhound for about 12 years, her mother usually only had two puppies per litter.

Where would a greyhound of any sort put more than two puppies?

That's so neat, Tony.

Re: Our dog had puppies, kinda neat.

cool, congrats Tony!!

Is there a market for "mixed breed" pups ? I thought one normally had to give them away ? (or free plus vet fees ? ) ??

Re: Our dog had puppies, kinda neat.

Puppies are as good as anything can be.

These are growing fast.
One is still prety tiny but the others are
growing by the day.
They doubled their size in 6 days.

My dog Bear had 2 litters with a total of about 25 pups. A few died, unfortunately. Goldie in my sig was THE pick of the second 13-puppy litter. I was wishing I could put that whole litter on ice and have Bear pups for life. Well, maybe just 5 or so, cryogenically frozen. ...quite serious about that.

Not trying to thread jack but ...

I don't know if I have ever heard anyone say they wanted to freeze dogs before.

I could do a Korean or Chinese joke here but... *resists the urge*

I know it sounds weird. But I'd certainly want each one to have a long full life (Bear was nearly 16 when she died of old age, Goldie 11.5 when she died of cancer) and I frankly trust very few of the people I ended up giving them to in the late 90s. Me and my doctor talked once about how disposable pets are to so many around here. I have people like that on my street and it's just sad. I've thought about "adopting" a dog from my neighbor down the road. But...that's just my motivation, along with wanting the offspring to such a great dog as Bear. When I gave them away I told each person to bring the dog back at any time during its life it they found they couldn't take care of it anymore. I regret not putting that in writing so each one would remember.

Re: Our dog had puppies, kinda neat.

Cool, Tony! No pictures of the proud papa?!?

Here's our girl we rescued several years ago. We believe her to be a long-haired daschund/cocker spaniel mix:

I join the chorus of those who are curious to see what your mixes are going to end up looking like...

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

Parker, eh?

Gotta name one of the boy pups Ron, I guess.

Now I'm REAL curious to see what these pups grow up to look like! Their coloring looks like a real mix of the black & brown/red.

I think the dad likes those ears. Maybe it helps him stand out from the other dudes vying for her attention.
