HT too large for SVS SCS-01(M)'s? Axiom M22's?

Just about ready to buy speakers. Thanks for your infinite patience with my questions.

I'm not hooking up two subs. I'm just going to buy the SVS 25-31PC. That should be more than sufficient.

Room size is 22 long, 10 wide, 7 high, over the garage with double drywall and green glue. Receiver will be an Onkyo SR606.

Background: The guy at Axiom said their M2 V2's were too small for my HT as fronts and tried to get me to go up to a tower. Out of my budget. So he said the LEAST he would go is the M22. He was trying to upsell me and was not very helpful.

Then I find that SVS has a SCS-01(M) package (3 speakers) that's in my range. I'm leaning toward these since I do need a new center speaker anyway.

Question: Are the SCS-01(M)'s too small for my HT?

Alec. Contact the folks at SVS and give them the dimensions of your room as well as the furnishings in it(carpet, wall coverings if any, etc). They'll let you know if the SCS-01's will work in your size room. When you order a sub from them they want to know this so you can get the proper sub for your room. They'll do the same with their other speakers. They are great to work with and won't steer you wrong.

Having just spoken with some folks at SVS recently about upgrading my whole speaker system, they also recommended the SCS-01 (M) package in order to stay within my budget and still allow for a quality sub. The SBS-01 could work, but wouldnt have the same presence as the larger SCS. They also recommended the 25-31 for my room size. My room dimensions are 18 x 17 x 9 (at the peak) =approx 2,400

I don't know if it makes a huge difference but I love to listen to concert DVD's and adventure flicks.

Re: HT too large for SVS SCS-01(M)'s? Axiom M22's?

The guy at Axiom was right, the M22 would be the least amount of speaker needed for that size of room, IMO. My listening area is 12X16 open to the back another 12' and then over in an 'L' shape another 16' and my M22's worked quite well in this room even at the very back of the room. Up in the listening area they were superb. Now to really fill the entire room in 2 channel mode I moved up to floorstanders and there is a large difference in output, but the M22s can hold there own.

I see no reason why the SVS sc-01 would not fill the room equally as well as my M22s. They have the same driver compliment, different design but I am sure the output would be near the same, the edge going to the M22's better sensitivity rating. I won't go into sound quality having not heard the SC's so I can't help there.

The trick with Axiom is go through their Factory Outlet, you save 10%, so if you add in a VP100, you are under $700 delivered. If you add another 2 items worth over $30 say 3 sets of Banana Plugs and some speaker wire you qualify for the HT discount and get another 5% off.
