DVI to HDMI Video connector

I have a Dell Slim PC I use for my HT PC. I have a slim ATI video card installed in it. The card has Audio and Video out via a DVI to HDMI. I do get both audio and video, but I was wondering is the video HD, I know the Audio is 5.1 but not HD.

When I play a Blu-Ray movie from the PC I just change the resolution to 1080 and was just wondering if I was getting true HD video.

Re: DVI to HDMI Video connector

I'm confused.

1) DVI, unlike HDMI, doesn't carry audio signals.

2) What kind of TV and sound system are you outputting to?

Re: DVI to HDMI Video connector

My HTPC is set up with an ATI video card and it does put Audio over the DVI connector (only 5.1), so it does output audio to the attached HDMI cable (via DVI to HDMI connector). From there it goes to my pioneer receiver via the HDMI switch and up to a 55" Hitachi Plasma.

I just wanted to make sure I'm getting "true" 1080 through the DVI. The stuff I've read says that it can pass the same HD video format as HDMI.
