seating, any help?

Where can you buy cheap seats for the theater room without either breaking the bank, or breaking your back/butt? It's like a recliner is $400, but throw a cupholder on it and call it a theater seat and it suddenly becomes $1500. All of the seats that I can find for my room are either ridiculously expensive and most wouldn't fit in my 9' wide room, or they are just the right size (like all of the chairs at IKEA) but made so cheap they hurt your back or butt, or don't recline. There has to be some place out there that can make a recliner that doesn't take up a lot of room width-wise, and that isn't insanely priced. If not I am going to start my own company, who's first?
What I want it a recliner that doesn't have huge overstuffed arms, or wide enough for sumo wrestlers. I'd like it to recline a little, but not too much so that I can still fit a second row in the back. Is this too much to ask for?
The chairs at IKEA are narrow enough I could fit 3 side by side, they are cheap, and they have footstools. But they aren't comfortable for more than 1/2 hour. IKEA | Leather sofas & armchairs | Armchairs | POÄNG | Chair

This place is reasonably priced, but they don't look too comfortable: Home theater seating, Home theater seats and chairs, Products - New Home Theater MOVIE Chairs

Am I asking for too much?

Re: seating, any help?

I was in the same boat as you a while ago. We finally bought a reclining loveseat, and we're very glad we did.

Re: seating, any help?

I too was recently searching for seating for my (new) home theater room that is currently in development (new thread with updates coming soon). I did some research for a few days and ended up with these:

http://www.interiorexpress.com/store...&bw=535&bh=400

Total cost delivered: $710 dollars.

Here is the link: Home Theater Seating Cannes in Black - Row of 2

Though I have not received the seating yet (Any day now) I did try out some similar built seating (Different fabric) in a local furniture store that was comfortable.

I'll let you know how they feel when I receive them.

Re: seating, any help?

Search for Coaster Studios. Here's one vendor:

"Studio" Collection Leather Theater Chairs/Seating - cfg7563set

I've had mine for almost 5 years and they're great. 3 seats might be too wide, but you can probably call and get a set of 2.

The Showtime version are less than 9' across for 3 of them, but IMO, aren't quite as comfortable as the Studio's (although many people like them).

Re: seating, any help?

Thanks for those sites guys. Here's a new one they got at IKEA, only $299. IKEA | Fabric sofas & armchairs | Armchairs | EKTORP MUREN | Recliner
It felt ok when I sat on it and it is just the right size, but again, like all of their seats there isn't much padding for the butt area. I think it they threw on a 1" layer of memory foam maybe it would work. In fact, I think a 1" layer of foam might be what ALL of their chairs need. I suppose I am just going to have to suck it up and spend the money, no matter how much I don't want to. I guess if the seats aren't comfortable you aren't going to want to watch a movie anyway right?
Thanks again for the suggestions.

Re: seating, any help?

Hi Chris,

Try this site www.lj-seating.com This is a factory in China but I know they export to the U.S. They speak English so if you contact them they could maybe redirect you to an agent or distributer in the U.S. Good luck.

Re: seating, any help?

Is having a cupholder important for you? I, too, looked far and wide for HT seating but ultimately settled on a reclining sofa and loveseat for my back and front rows, respectively. My HT is only 11' wide and having 3 HT seats across made things a bit crowded. The sofa is about 7.5' wide so there is ample aisle room.

Not having the armrests in the way also allows for more cozy seating arrangements with my family.

Re: seating, any help?

I finally found them. Well, almost. I went to Mor again to see if they had anything new since I hadn't been there for a long time and they have these seats that lean back a little, and come with an ottoman for $299. Plus they match the microfiber I already have on my loveseat in case it takes me awhile to get all of them. They come in a cream leather or tan microfiber. Although they aren't full recliners like I wanted, and don't have cupholders, they are WAY more cusion-y than anything at IKEA, and are only a little over 2' wide which is perfect. I'd post a link but it isn't on their website. There also isn't much of a frame to mount shakers on, but since they are the back row and will be on a riser that doesn't matter. But it is something to think about if I replace the loveseat and go with those chairs for everything, which I may do. With their size I may be able to get 6 in the room, but I will wait until I get the first 2 to see if there is enough room. I don't want to overcrowd it.
They will do nicely once I put a table in between them to act as a cupholder/remote storage.
Thanks for your help with the links, I think these will be fine.
