I converted my garage, a totally under utilized space into a Home Theater for under $10,000.

Attachment 1323

The garage door was replaced with glass sliders that match the house.

Screen measures 120" diagonal

Curtains hide storage.

I purchased black out curtains from Target and had my local tailor hem to fit.

This is where I film The Home Theater Show

Re: Cheap Garage to Home Theater Conversion

Looks nice.

Only things I would have done differently is spread the L/R speakers out a bit more (depending on your seating distance), lower the screen and L/R speakers (both seem to be about 5' high, as opposed to head height ~ 3'), locate the equipment so it's not in view when watching (lights can be a distraction) and paint the trim, ceiling, and front wall black to reduce reflections.

How far back is the seating? Riser? Are the towers used for 2 channel?

Re: Cheap Garage to Home Theater Conversion

Kevin,

Good points...Will be painting the ceiling black as soon as I get some time. The towers are new and yes I do use them for 2 channel. My next project is to move the 2 front in wall speakers to the sides of the room to make my system 7.1 compatible. Row of seating is 10" from the screen. I do not have risers.

Nice job. I would highly recommend painting the screen wall flat black.
