Bewitched Season 8?

Re: Bewitched Season 8?

Hi Ryan, I think USA Season 8 is going to be a purple which is kinda cool I like the layout, but I was hoping they would have used orange and yellow two colours they haven't used yet.... I hope that when Sony releases the boxset they include lots of Extra's... they may include the Tabitha series which would be cool... I haven't got that yet... and I purchased the colourized episodes of seasons 1 and 2 so I hope they include the original B & W seasons 1 and 2 in the box set, but I doubt they will... good luck and I hope you guys get season 8 soon

Re: Bewitched Season 8?

Alan that was too cute

Ryan to answer your question, no I haven't seen the Tabitha series either, but I am like you I want to... One reason is because Gladys and Abner are in it and so is Dr. Bombay... According to Elizabeth Montgomery she wasn't fond of the show... and Erin Murphy stated that if they would have waited like 10 years she would have done it... since it was done in the late 70s I think 5 years BW ended Erin would have been like 13 or 14... Most say the show would have done better if it wasn't interrupted all the time, but in the 90s/00s Sabrina took over and did as good as BW did... Esmeralda was on that one... and on Passions an American soap opera which ran from 99-08 both Esmeralda and Dr. Bombay were on those 2...

so yea, i would say get Tabitha, it's only one season and I am going to get it, but I am going to wait and see if they include it in the boxset with Bewitched...I think the Japanese did that Ryan... hope that helped

Re: Bewitched Season 8?

Jdcrackers, I can't repost the picture here because I only have seen it on TVShowsonDVD.com and it isn't fair to them to repost it...I got in trouble once for doing that, but now I know better And we'll get to see it in less than four weeks anyhow! WOO-HOO!! Thanks for the count down.

Re: The "Tabitha" series. I bought it the day it came out, which was not-so-coincidentally the same day as BW S.1 came out. I don't think it's nearly as bad as what people say...it's no BW by any stretch of the imagination, but it's cute. Lisa Hartman is way hot!! And she's always in something skimpy so it's a major plus And many of the BW sound effects were used plus it's cool to see Abner and Gladys Kravitz even if Mr. Kravitz looks like a bum what with his long hair and beard. And it's also nice to have Dr. Bombay as well, even though his first appearance on the show seemed a little out of character.

I do not think that the US version of the Complete Series will include it...if I'm being honest I think we're just going to get a repackage of the very same discs we now own, just in one big box...but like I said before, I hope I'm proven wrong.

hi mike thanks very much for the information i didnt knew that Gladys and Abner was there in tabitha series ... they should have waited for 10 years so we could see elizabeth mongomery in it too and rating could have also increased ....but anyways thanks once again mike

Re: Bewitched Season 8?

Tabitha is pretty ghastly. Almost an insult how bad it is. And so stupid that they made Adam a mortal. To me, seeing the Kravitzes and Dr. Bombay was just a sad, sad reminder of how far this show was from the original. And the cast just hasn't got the class and star quality of the Bewitched cast. Even the sets are cheap and ugly. Watching it again on DVD I never even crackied a smile, much less laughed. I certainly groaned alot though.

The only good thing about the DVD set was the inclusion of the original pilot, called Tabatha. It wasn't very good either, but interesting to see it and compare it to the later series. At least Adam was properly a warlock in the pilot.

And to my mind, neither this crappy low-rent series nor the hideous Nicole Kidman feature film belong in the complete series boxset, even though they both were in the Japanese set.

2 More weeks to go until we get the 8th and Final Season!!  I am so psyched... I reserved my copy and the guy told me that they are going to sell like hotcakes... He ordered several and I had the last one to reserve...  I am just glad that it's finally over after 4 long years...I just wish they would get on the ball with All in the Family and Archie Bunkers Place... :)

I do have a question for you guys... Did Farrah Fawcett have the same kind of cancer that Elizabeth Montgomery had?  It was such a loss both she and Liz were television wonders... Just terrible... They are in God's care now

I'm so happy that it's only 13 days until we have Season 8!! And DVDTown.com has put up the first review of the set. James Plath, the author, isn't much of a fan of Serena or Dr. Bombay, my two favorite characters:

www.dvdtown.com/reviews/review-of-bewitched-tv-series-on-dvd/7120

I would also like to point out that today (July 1) is the 37th anniversary of the last airing of BW in ABC primetime when they showed "Adam, Warlock or Washout", which I think is a fitting ending to the series because it had a great story about whether or not Adam was a warlock.

Wow.  I don't think I could disagree with his views more. Oh well, that's what makes the world go 'round.

And, yes Mike, sadly both Farrah and Liz suffered from colo-rectal cancer. :(

While I was at work today a man who is a huge Bewitched fan told me and this makes the third person to say this, that they shot some episodes for the 9th season.  Now we know Elizabeth didn't come back for season 9, but could this be just some footage they shot thinking she may come back like some scenes that she wasn't present in?? I would just love to talk to someone who did that show to find out what the truth was.  I told Mr. Miller about this forum and he said he would get on here and read it.... He said while he was growing uo it was one of his favourite shows... I really remember watching it as a child in the 1980s, but didn't fall in love with it until 1997 while in college...

Hey Larry Tate, thanks so much for that great review...I am glad they included Adam on the disc because he made season 8 if that makes sense... I am happy with the packaging.... I think Sony did a good job... only thing I am disappointed with is no extras, but I bet they are going to do tons of extras with the box set so people will buy them what do you think?  I think there should be bloopers, a short bio of why the Darrin's switched, a bio on Liz, maybe the Tabitha series and of course Erin's tour of the ranch and I believe Kasey Rogers, Bernard Fox and Alice Ghostley did something in 2005 which should be included....it would be nice and maybe the E True Hollywood Story, however, I was disappointed with that because not once did they mention Aunt Clara...

Well we have 1 more week to go!! On that note, what are some of your favourite episodes from Season 8? I think mine are Samantha and Loch Ness Monster, The leaning tower or Pisa that was hilarious when Esmeralda said make it lean, I also love the Ms. Peabody episodes, George Washington Episodes and I love Samantha on Thin Ice... I love watching her turn into a witch when the Canadian Skater was hiting on her...LOL  other episodes I liked were TV or not TV and Serena's Youth Pill and Hansel and Gretel in Samantha's Land...lol

Too bad we didnt see Uncle Arthur or the Kravitzes or the elder Stephen's, but overall season 8 was one of my favourite's too  not sure why so many didn't like this season... I know the writers re used old scripts, but if there was a season 9 do you guys think it would have been better?

The Extras should be Anything to do with Bewitched outside of the actual episode footage itself,Cast Commercials,ABC Bewitched Promos,Liz Public service announcements.

Bewitched & Elizabeth Montgomery Intros at the start of the show.

The Bewitched Sponsor commercials from Quaker Oats,Chevrolet,Kodak,Clairol,Ban,Bufferin ,Excedrin,Oscar Meyer etc. that ran right after the animated opening & before the end credits,Original Animated Sponsor Openings & end credits with Sponsor logos.

These are the sort of things that should have been a part of the Bewitched Sets, but they were not nor will they be i think in the complete set which i figure to be out around Christmas time.

Vintage Bloopers from the set would be a magical find of course, talk show appearances by Liz on the Merv Griffin Show to promote Sisters at Heart Christmas week 1970, perhaps a rare Robert Montgomery presents from the early 1950's featureing La La Liz would be nice.

It is hard to say but i think that they may well have ended the show at about the right time.
I think Season 8 was better then a Season 9 would have been.

Great choices all in your favorite episodes from Season 8, mine would be
251 School Days, School Daze
245 Serena's Richcraft Serena meets the Rat Pack vie Peter Lawford, talk about ring a ding ding !!
246 Samantha on Thin Ice
247 Serena's Youth Pill Serena in a bathing suit, nough said, plus she gets wet :)
243 Samantha’s Magic Sitter Esmeralda stole this one although Liz looked great in a cape.
241 3 Men and a Witch on a Horse  Liz clearly was having so much fun with this one, she loved Horse racing & was an expert handicapper.
237  A Plague on Maurice and Samantha  This one was very creative & fun with great interplay between Maurice & Samantha.
229 How Not to Lose Your Head to King Henry VIII, part 1 Great realistic costuming here, Liz had a blast playing dress-up.
230 How Not to Lose Your Head to King Henry VIII, part 2
231 Samantha and the Loch Ness Monster
232 Samantha's Not-So-Leaning Tower of Pisa
233  Bewitched, Bothered and Baldoni  This one may be my favorite of the entire season,Liz shines shines & is purely magical & almost glows, talk about the mother of all aprons tooooooooooooooo ;)

I think the Lock Ness episode is superb High Camp, just a lot of fun & some
Wet Serena too, can't get much better then that ;)

Larry Tate :)

I am SOOO happy that they included Liz's introductions to stay tuned for BW! That is awesome!!

I can't wait to get this set in my hands...I also love "Samantha and the Loch Ness Monster" and the Henry VIII episodes...pretty much all the episodes that have been mentioned before along with "The Warlock in the Gray Flannel Suit"...I remember laughing so hard watching this episode the first time! "FLURPITY FLURP!"

Larry Tate, your faves seem pretty close to mine.  I might take out Pisa and Loch Ness and add in Warlock in the Grey Flannel Suit.  I also like The Eight Year Witch because of Julie Newmar's performance, and Tabitha's First day at School because of Nita Talbot's performance ("Charlton Rollnick!!  You're gonna have to take TWO baths this week!!") as well as Maudie Prickett's ("Don't go to extremes.  We like to see you on Parent's Day")
