So far I have watched the first 2 episodes of Daniel Boone Season 1. I enjoyed them and I thought the Video and audio quality are both real good. CBD shipped the tapes quickly and I got them less than a week after ordering them. Also, I went ahead and ordered Daniel Boone Season 6 from DeepDiscountDVD. So now I have the complete series and I am looking forward to watching them. I saw on danielboonetv.com where there were some problems with Disc 1 of Season 6 of Daniel Boone. They have a link on their website where you can email Liberation Entertainment and they will send you a replacement disc. They sent me a replacement disc in less than a week. Great customer service by Liberation Entertainment. Thanks again Gary!

I also want to thank Gary for the heads up on the Daniel Boone Season 1-5 set from CBD. I got this at the Fabulous Friday sale price and have been working through the set starting with Season 1. The video quality of Season 1is variable, but very watchable to me.

It was my pleasure guys. I'm always happy when I can be of any help in encouraging people to take part in great deals for good shows. And boy, if ever there was a great deal, this one was it. I can't think of anything else that I've ever seen that offered that much of a deal on multiple season sets. It was truly incredible.

The first season A/V is a tad off when compared with many other vintage series released by studios like CBS/Paramount. But I can promise you that once you move into Season 2 you're going to be very, very pleased with the A/V quality.

Gary "this series has always been underrated - but I'm here to say it's top notch as far as I'm concerned" O.

Re: Daniel Boone - Decent Quality?

On the 4th episode on Disc 1 the disc stops at the 38 minute mark and will not play anymore. The episode is Lac Duquesne on Disk 1 Season 1 of Daniel Boone. The Chapter time total only shows 38 minutes. The episode should be 50 minutes total. I have a Sony Blu-Ray Player. I also tried it on my Toshiba DVD Recorder and the same thing happens. I cannot watch the final 12 minutes. Has anyone else had this problem? Can anyone help me find out what I can do so I can see this entire episode?

Thanks!

While maybe not properly noted this appears to be a known issue across all sets and is source based not transfer based. I read some where that they used the best source available to them and even though it is not complete they decided to include it rather then exclude it. This is apparently the only such flaw, so your set is fine so far.

I had the same issue. I put the disc on my computer and the file for this episode is shown as 38:15. There was no other file for the remaining time for this episode. I saw on Amazon that the episode is available for downloading and it shows the time for the episode as 50 minutes. I don't know if that is accurate, though. Has anybody downloaded the episode from Amazon?

While I haven't watched it yet, this is my understanding that it is just a truncated episode on the disk. From what I read, it doesn't freeze up but just ends at the 38 minute mark and jumps back to the episode menu.

Re: Daniel Boone - Decent Quality?

Looks like there may be another episode that was affected on season 1 according to the Daniel Boone web site . . . .

Hey Willard did you get to watch the entire 50 minutes of episode 4 Lac Duquesne? Where did you get your disc from?

Thanks!

Re: Daniel Boone - Decent Quality?

There was a second batch of Seasons 1 & 2. I think that's the one were getting now in the wide single case with hinged hubs and that is the set that is missing the ending on episode 4 on disc 1. The earlier S1 & S2 was packaged with 4 slim cases and a cardboard box, and maybe didn't have that mistake.

It would be pretty difficult to try to exchange the disc for a complete one, if they are really out of print or impossible if the entire run was bad. Although Amazon is carrying all Daniel Boone seasons again and showing the earlier box art for S1 and S2, they could still be actually selling the newer version of S1 with the short episode error.

Amazon reviewers have also mentioned problems with S1 Disc 7, S3 Disc 6, and S6 Disc 1. I don't have S6, but I checked the other two discs mentioned and they were alright.

Does anyone remember the Disney Daniel Boone mini-series? It was only four episodes, but it made it to VHS. It starred Dewey Martin as Daniel Boone and featured Dean 'Steve Canyon' Fredericks as his Indian enemy,Crowfeather.

Right Bob. I bought the sets when they first came out as well and I have the full running time for the Season 1 episode, "Lac Duquesne." And I have no idea what the one Amazon reviewer was talking about with the Season 1 episode, "Cain's Birthday." That's got to be just a limited issue because mine plays fine and I've never heard anyone else mention a problem with that disc.

The Season 3, disc #6 issue was easily replaced by filling out an online form for a free replacement. Same with Season 6, disc #1. I have no complaints with these sets. Whenever there was a problem it was remedied by the company right away. I didn't have to do anything but take a minute to fill out an online form.

I guess I'm blind. I don't find any references to problems with S3 Disk 6 on amazon reviews. What was/is the issue?

Re: Daniel Boone - Decent Quality?

On the Amazon page for Daniel Boone Season One, scroll down to the customer discussion thread: "Daniel Boone Season One Disc one episode 4 Lac Duquesne", read the posts from Eddie White.

The problem with S3 Disc 6 was that it was "unreadable". That's a quote from a Liberation rep that posted on one of the older Daniel Boone threads at HTF. As I said my copy seems O.K. I could not find a link for the S3 D6 replacement program., but here's the one for the S6 Disc 1 replacement:Daniel Boone Season Six Replacement Disk

That's unfortunate. Also, the cardboard boxes are much more attractive packaging in my opinion. My set is mix matched. Season 2 is the only cardboard box set I have. The rest are the hinged hub cases

Re: Daniel Boone - Decent Quality?

I contacted Liberation Entertainment about the issue with D1 E4 "Lac Duquesne". Here's what they said.

"Unfortunately the master that we used for manufacturing was faulty and there are no replacement discs available for this episode."

I requested to be put on a notification list if one exists in case they eventually *do* offer replacements. They *did* offer to send a couple of other disks to make up for the bad disk/episode. While it *would* be nice to get the complete episode I'm not disappointed considering the reply and price paid. So far I'm impressed with their service. My S6/D1 arrived less than a week after filling out the online replacement form.

I tend to think that if enough people ask they might actually manufacture corrected replacement disks for the newer S1/D1 sets.

Re: Daniel Boone - Decent Quality?

^The stand alone releases (I assume since they were indicated by name) of 2 2-parters, "Cain's Birthday" and "High Cumberland". One from season 1 and the other from season 2. As I have them both in the season sets it really doesn't matter. I'm hoping for a remastered/fixed disk 1 eventually.

I recently watched episode #8 My Brother's Keeper from Season 1.  Some footage is missing and Liberation (the company putting out The Daniel Boone DVD Sets) corrected this by having the missing footage included as a special  feature on the Season 5 set.  The footage was missing at the time the Season 1 set came out because they didn't have a good enough print to use it.  What struck me in watching the missing footage include on the Season 5 DVD set as a special feature is how much better the video and audio quality is compared to the Season 1 DVD set's 28 episodes.  Would it not be possible for Liberation to rerelease the entire Season 1 Daniel Boone DVD set using for all the 28 episodes the gtreat video and audio quality like they used for the missing footage of My Brothers' Keeper included as a special feature on the Season 5 set?  Has anyone else noticed this and does anyone know if Liberation has any plans to upgrade their Season 1 Daniel Boone set?

Thanks!

Robert
