How to do .WAV incoming mail notification on Mac?

I asked this question a long time ago but was unable to find the
original post.

What I want to do is put a notification sound in my email.

The sound file is in .WAV format which we all know is not compatible
with Mac.

How do I get a .WAV file to play as an incoming mail notification
on my Mac?

Do I need to convert the file to another format first? If so, what
format? Also, Any idea how to set up mail for sound notifications?

Thank you as always.

Ron, what makes you say that WAV files are not compatible with the Mac? All my WAV files play perfectly fine on my Mac; by default iTunes imports them, but the play just fine in QuickTime as well.

Maybe your file is just a non-standard WAV file? Did you try playing it in QT?

Re: How to do .WAV incoming mail notification on Mac?

Christian,

I just found out minutes ago that a .WAV file will play in Mac.

The problem is getting it to play when new mail arrives in
APPLE MAIL.

The sound file has to be placed in LIBRARY->SOUNDS and then you
can import it as a notification sound in APPLE MAIL.

Problem is, it's still playing another default sound instead.

I'm kind of working on this as we speak.

Thanks for the heads up.
