Re: Weekly RoundUp 2-24-2009

Actually Mike, I wasn't even going by your info. It never even occurred to me to check whether it was OAR. I didn't look. I actually even got a minute or two into the movie before it hit me. I yanked the disc out of the player, and there is it in tiny print along the edge of the disc. "Full Frame".

This makes NO sense.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 2-24-2009

Well I know I can't remember the last catalog title that was OAR.

I've been quietly celebrating the fact that there have been fewer and fewer MAR'd new releases. This is quite a surprise--a disappointing surprise.

Especially sorry you got stung by it.

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

I hit one spelling and two grammar mistakes in the first sentence of the blurb for Broken Windows and stopped reading.

(It's just me, I know!. . .)

The one on the front cover (from Independent Film Quarterly)? The grammar is atrocious. And much of the construction on the front & back covers is pretty bad. But I don't see the misspelling.

It's traditional Sundance Bait and I've seen "this movie" a hundred times before, but it has some good people in it, so I'm going to give it a shot.

Gotcha. Misinterpreted your use of "blurb" and was looking at the front cover for the, well, blurb. Or, at least what I think of as a "blurb"--the glowing brief review designed to promote the title. I see you were referring to the blurb on the back cover--the description of the plot and characters.

Complicated stuff, this.

I guess we should check the sd dvd forum area more often.
I noticed a review that was posted on the 20th that mentions
the ratio of Ironweed.

I caved and picked up Madagascar 2 at Target. With the $5 off any BD coupon that printed on my receipt last month, it came out to a palatable $14.99.

No coupon on the receipt this time, though.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 2-24-2009

Living in the Albany area, I too had a special interest in the release of Ironweed. I am stunned that it is not in widescreen. In this day and age I just don't see any excuse for it. Guess I'll have to wait another decade or so for the Blu-ray...
