Re: Official HTF AWARDS 2008 Discussion Thread
Warner is the big winner again this year and rightfully so. How the West Was Won is definitely deserving of all it's recognition. Congrats to all!

Re: Official HTF AWARDS 2008 Discussion Thread
The Godfather tied with Wall-E is such a great sight. Wall-E is perfection of state-of-the-art all-digital, The Godfather is perfection of state-of-the-art restoration of analog film.
I said it before, but "worst" is a bit strong for Fox, but their pricing scheme, handling of supplements, and poor transfers do reflect badly when other studios are doing the opposite. I was able to buy the completely packed The Adventures of Robin Hood for just $14 - amazing transfer, all the SD extras, and the three cartoons upgraded to 1080p. Why should Rocky cost twice as much, but only have the movie?
Also glad to see Touch of Evil get the SDVD award. Universal's handling of B&W is near perfection in the last few years. I've suggested ToE as a Criterion license-out, then Universal tops them. I don't even think Criterion would have provided commentaries for all three cuts.
Looks like I finally need to pick up How the West Was Won, now that I've gone through the first wave of BluRays I picked up.

OK, this is EDweird!
Less than 100 people voted for "Best DVD"!?!?!?
WTF!
It's common too have more than 200 on the SD DVD movie forum & more than 100 on the HDM forum at one time! What's up with that?!?!
(when I just checked, there were 200+ on HDM, 200+ on SD movies, & 200+ on SD TV)
--------------------
I thought there was a "Best BD Studio"?
(my vote was Disney)
--------------------
Glad "HtWWW" 'swept' the awards.
Here was my 'vote' for "HtWWW":

Thanks for letting a few of us (not your fault; you even extended the voting)
voice our opinions.
And for me spouting my "none-sense"!
Movies are: "The Greatest Artform".
HD should be for EVERYONE!
