Hi I just had one more similarity that just might blow some of my friends from
Dark Shadows away.

Peyton Place not Dark Shadows held the first Seance!!! Two characters participated candles and all. Dark Shadows came later with their first Seance and in my view the best in the Laura Collins story line.

The Ingenue and the bodies I will not comment only to say there are not one but many similarities and not the obvious ones. Please do not name them just think about it. I know Charles knows them and did not give them away.

Ingenues finding bodies is not that uncommon I guess for Dark Shadows anyway. How about a wife from each show viewing a death. There is a great deal of common ground here as well.

The two Ingenues from each series lacked one parrent as each series began or in Vickys case both. The two Ingenues returned to each show when both shows returned after cancelation.

The Convicts story lines on both shows also plow some interesting ground.

The Peyton house and Collinwood were both called houses of death. I am playing with fire here so I shall stop all these comparisons.

My goal here is not to give plot secrets away. I just want people to see what great viewing pleasure they will receive when they invest in the Peyton Place DVDS come May 19th.

Peyton Place is a Jewel of a show. I am so glad Shout Factory realized this.

I offer my personal thanks to Shout Factory. I look forward to all those Peyton Place DVDS to come.

Loved the cast photo from the PILOT of "PEYTON PLACE", very interesting, I recognized the ones that were brought to the series. And there were others that did not make it to the original series. Does it give a date as to what year that photo was from ?? I did not see Norman in the photo...... Also, saw the CROSS family, in the book and film, there was an older and younger brother, however, in this it looked like a younger daughter. It was very interesting.

Jack I hope you and Alan are right and that the thread will entice people to buy. I wanted to comment on the Miles family in Peyton Place. I think Peyton Place even in todays top 10 series feature and all African American Family like the Cosby Show. I enjoyed when Lew confronts Jeff about race when they knew each other all their lives. I also liked Alma talking about race with Vicky about New York. The best however was Harry Miles confronting that stupid Fred Russell at the inn and then coming home to give Alma and account. The other was Mike and Marsha talking about dinner at the Miles home mabye a bit over board but for that time not bad.

I really lost interest in "PEYTON PLACE" after Allison, left. I watched until Constance and Elliot were given, their walking papers. To me the show changed and lost it's two core characters. However, if they complete the series on DVD, it would be interesting to see what I missed. I remember watching the last show, because it was the final one. It barely resembled it with all the changes........
Now, I would like to see what happened, did Barbara Rush take over the book store of Constance's ??
Funny, thing in the sequel the Carsons were back in PP..........How did they explain that one ?? Were they searching for Allison and brought her back or found her ??

I also like Harry Miles going for help to the home of Sargent Walker. It was a good exchange. The book store was gone from the show and the Russell family rented the Carson House. Charles or Jack would know more about the daytime series then me. I know the plotline on the old show was resolved. Near the end of the daytime series they said Betty was talking to a Ghost. I also read Allison began drug use. I think they never explained why the Carsons were back but when they left the night time show the door was open. Maybe that is why it was easy to bring them back. I guess Betty had several conversations with the Ghost. The end of the daytime series was suppose to please the fans of the old and new.

Vicky on Dark Shadows found her first body on Dark Shadows which aired two weeks or so after Allison found hers on Peyton Place. I just had to add that after I said I would not compare the two shows anymore. Sorry

Shout Factory's store listing for the set has been released, and it mentions the first 31 episodes being on there.

Also, the runtime on Amazon now says 810, instead of 720, so it looks like each episode will be approx. 25-26 minutes in length.

At the rate Shout! Factory is going, it will probably take 17 boxed sets to complete the series.

Great news!!! This has made my weekend. I wonder if the extras will include the much talked about Peyton Place Revisited. I also wanted to add that the last year of the show is worth waiting for as well. The lovely Diana Hyland and Barbara Parkins had some very good scenes together . James Douglas was still at the top of his game in sceans with old and new cast members. There was also one retruning cast memeber fans will love to see. I know this great show will have a great run on DVD.

Hey Alan thanks for the tip. I asked one of my buddies at BB and they said they have no intention of carry PP go to their web site was the response. I also either read or heard Shout bought only the first two years of black and white none of the color. This is pure rumor not a fact!!!!

Hey Jack I hope you put your play to bed now and you can get some R&&. The DS convention this year sounds not one to miss. The new movie and all.

Alan it was fantastic!!! The site covered everything. Alan I still must tell you about scenes you missed from the last season of Peyton Place. Betty and Rod are talking they get some bad news and Betty really goes crazy over the news. Betty also has a great scean with the return of a beloved charcter. Betty and Steven also duke it out. Charles will know the sceans I refer to.

Nope Mark- Still three and a half weeks before the big show. Everything else is going by the wayside. As I get older, I find myself wondering why I go through this "putting on a show" stuff every Spring. So, in three and a half weeks the R&R will come...

Do we have any idea about extras yet for the release?

Jack I know what hard work goes into those Productions. In High School my best friend was involved as an actor and another good friend behind the scenes. So even what they did looked hard to me. Man I cannot imagine being in your shoes. How you can keep all the details in your head. Gosh just thinking about the responsibilty you have boggles my mind. No news on the Peyton Place front from me. I would just like to know the release schedule but I know it is to early. I will keep holding a good thought for you Jack. I hope you can get some rest this weekend. Hey how about the DS Convention this year.

It shows that Shout! Factory is following the route MPI took in releasing Dark Shadows: a new batch of episodes every two months! It is imperative that when we do get the episodes to tell Shout! to keep up the good work and release more. The more they hear from the consumers, the better!

Terrific news- I am very encouraged, as I hope many of you are. Now if we can only find out if the releases will have any special features, we will know how many sets it will take to release the program in it's entirety-

My copies average about 24 mins an episode- These were taped off The Romance Channel- Is this the correct running time for shows from this time span?

Anyone have any info on special features?

The amazon page says 810 minutes, which averages about 25-26 minutes.

Is it possible that the Romance Channels versions, are missing only the previously on, and next on segments?

Well if they're going 31 eps per box, then there will be 16.5 sets. I wouldn't count on each set remaining at 810 minutes as a matter of course. Running times may vary from episode to episode.

Great news thankyou Shout!!!

The show never had a last week on Peyton Place they only had the previews on the last of all episodes. One preview in the color shows edited out one of the previews which never made it to the next episode. Also a few episodes did not have previews. I saw this when they reaired on Romance. On last week never was their. I watched these shows when they first aired on ABC. Charles I hope the Ed Nelson book is good. I am waiting to seek if I should pay the money. Let us know. Jack I look forward to extras as well maybe we will know a month from now I sure would like to see Peyton Place Revsited. It looks like all us Peyton Place Pals have a lot to look forward to in 09.

I'm really excited about this, can't wait to get into the show. Still, I wonder why "Part One" isn't posted in the "releases" category of TVShowsOnDVD yet. I'd like to add it to my want list.

Anyway, yes, it's pretty amazing they didn't catch the spine mistake as it is rather prominent. I'm sure it will be corrected in time, though.

Great news, but still no words on extras. Mark, I've been reading the Nelson memoir, and tells a whole lot of stuff about his days on PP. Lots of photos. When I'm done with it, I'll give a review here.

The episodes I have watched taped from the Romance Channel are averaging 24-25 mins long... This includes the previews for the next episode. The new box does indeed look great-

Hello Just a few thoughts from Mark. Never say Never Peyton Place and Dark Shadows two wives leave both shows before a mystery has been solved in the first year of the show. Both were the first shows bought for a new network Dark Sadows Scfi Peyton Place Romance channel. Now some fun seeing the town square and the Peyton Mansion even the Carson house. The Peyton Mansion looks great in the Fox film The Sound and the Fury. The house is to the very right of the town square on the square!! You can see even the climb up the road to the Mansion. The next Fox film Good Morning Miss Dove. The best yet in color the same to right of the square across from Norman and Ritas apartment just as in the first film, and then the Carson house exterior as Miss Dove walks by. The third fox film The Long Hot Summer also the fox film The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit shows the Book Store. Summer and Suit I have not seen for awhile so I Cannot provide details. These movies play a lot on Fox movie Channel. We all know the Peyton house is a big part of the Fox movie Return To Peyton Place inside and out. Jack hope the Play is going well for you. Alan that sure is a site you led us all to. Charles cannot wait for your review and I know how hard it is to squeaze in time to read boy do I know. I also know all of us here are looking forward to the May 19th release.
