Re: 2009 Disney Treasures guesses?
The Prince and the Pauper from 1962 is long overdue. Three episodes and the feature film version with some alternative footage. In widescreen, color, and with Walt's intros. The Light In the Forest, The Mooncussers, and Moseby's Marauders are also in need of restoration and DVD release.
Many of Disney's adult (as in non-juvenile) live action films from the 1950s are released either commercially or as Disney Movie Club Exclusives that are in need of restoration and / or widescreen transfers, including The Story of Robin Hood and His Merrie Men (1952), Rob Roy the Highland Rogue (1953), Johnny Tremain (1957) The Third Man On the Mountain (1959), Toby Tyler (1960) and Kidnapped (1960). The remarkable The Sword and the Rose (1954) hasn't been released on DVD at all.
Disney also needs to reconsider Darby O'Gill and the Little People (1959). The box states the film is supposed to be full-screen, which simply isn't true. The pan & scan makes a mess out of Robert Stevenson's compositions. Many of the actors are revoiced and the lyp-syncing is way off. What happend to the original audio?
