Directed by Bryan Singer (The Usual Suspects, Valkyrie) and Brett Ratner (Rush Hour, Red Dragon), the X-Men saga – X-Men, X2: X-Men United and X3: The Last Stand – chronicles the ongoing battle between humans and mutants and their attempt to coexist, from their humble beginnings at Xavier’s School For The Gifted to the ultimate showdown against those that wish to “cure” them. How does this X-Men III release stack up against the first one? And is this the first double-dip?

Re: TCFHE Press Release: X-Men Trilogy Blu-Ray Collection

The first thing I looked for was the price. And $80 MSRP sounds very reasonable, especially since something like the Bourne trilogy retailed at $120.

Extras sound loaded as well, though I'm rather disappointed they're not including an extended cut of X-Men: The Last Stand since the deleted/extended bits were pretty good and actually would've added something to the film.

I really hope we aren't losing the rear surround channel on 'X3'...the original release had a DTS-HD MA 6.1 track.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: X-Men Trilogy Blu-Ray Collection

Cover art is up, and I find it strange that Anna Paquin's character isn't on the X-Men 1 cover, and yet Hally Berry -- who barely does anything in the film -- is right up front, just behind Hugh Jackman. Hally's hogging the cover of X-2 also (though she did some scenes with Kurt Wagner so I guess maybe she deserves to be on the cover). And she's there on X-3 again, and on the box that encases the 3 films too. She must have a good agent.

Halle Berry is hot and no doubt the studio hopes to use that hotness to help sell dvds. She uses it to get roles after all.

Good price on this set. I was expecting it to be around $15-$20 more. Nice one Fox!

Re: TCFHE Press Release: X-Men Trilogy Blu-Ray Collection

Wal-Mart had an exclusive bonus disc with the DVD release of X-Men 3. It was labeled as having:

FOX MOVIE CHANNEL PRESENTS CASTING SESSION

FOX MOVIE CHANNEL PRESENTS LIFE AFTER FILM SCHOOL

However, nither of them was on the disc. The actual content of the disc was a single featurette about the history of the comic book's production, with interviews with many of the artists and writers of the comics. It was enjoyable, as I didn't know much about the X-Men comics...

I've skimmed the press release above and see the listing for the CASTING SESSION and LIFE AFTER FILM SCHOOL featurettes on disc 2 of X3. But I don't see the comic doc listed anywhere. Am I just over-looking it?

I just want to know if I should hold on to the Wal_Mart disc when I upgrade do the Blu-Ray boxset.

Just going by DVD Empire's listings, they have all of the extras for all 3 movies and then some.

I so can not wait for the first two films to be release on Bluray.

These two movies will be among two of my favorite movies in my HD collection so I hope Fox does a great job on the transfer. And at least we know these films have lossless DTS Master Audio so I am actually jazzed about these releases.

Looks impressive & I might replace all 3 DVDs with this set.

I love the first 2. I like the action sequences in the 3rd, but the

death of Cyclops & the changing of Wolverine to deal w/ Jean instead of Cyclops at the end

I'm not sure if spoilers are needed here, but that particular character was snubbed by all 3 movies IMO. He disappears for a huge chunk of X2 as well.

I know, but I do it out of respect for people that haven't seen it yet. Just because a movies been out a while doesn't mean everyone's seen it. The notorious Planet of the Apes spoiler on the DVD cover is a prime example. A 20 year old obviously wasn't around when it came out, but why can't he still enjoy a classic without people ruining it for him.

You are right though - the character really should had a much meatier role in all 3.

I'll be purchasing the boxset, snapping the digital copy discs in half and throwing them in the trash. Digital copy is pointless. I shall then order some 2-Disc Blu-ray cases off of GenesysDTP from Marc. I did the same exact thing to the "Digital Copy" for THE DARK KNIGHT.
X3 had two-disc sets from the UK, Korea, Hong Kong. LOL, the US/Canada usually gets shafted and people don't want to go multi-region. It's their loss.

I used to think that way, but ever since getting an iPod, I've found digital copies to be quite handy for on-the-go movie watching when on long trips. When I get my set, I will definitely be downloading mine.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: X-Men Trilogy Blu-Ray Collection

from all accounts I have read I am giving FOX a huge thumbs down on their execution on this release

it is sad that one cannot order online or go to the store and have confidence in knowing what they are getting

the fact that some Trilogy sets have movie cash on them and some don't is bad enough
quoted specifically from the TCFHE press release
Quote:
In a studio first, the discs include a BD Live feature that will allow fans to purchase advance tickets and gain access to exciting never-before-scene footage to the highly anticipated upcoming film X-Men Origins: Wolverine debuting in theatres May 1st. even worse that some stand alone versions have movie cash stickers at BB for a promotion and some don't ... I can completely understand some of the other non new release catalog titles in the promotion being old copies without movie cash on them but it is unthinkable that all the X-Men movies which were new releases did not ship with it on package

content aside FOX gets major thumbs down for the roll out of this release
maybe they should contact the FBI to see where all the promised movie cash went

Re: TCFHE Press Release: X-Men Trilogy Blu-Ray Collection

It's a widespread conspiracy by underpaid Best Buy employees spending their break time in the stockrooms peeling movie cash stickers off of the eligible titles and selling them on eBay.

Joking aside, I agree that this is a pretty big problem, especially considering how heavily Best Buy was promoting the free movie cash this week. Too bad there isn't a comparable B&M electronics retailer around anymore to put them in their place. I keep hoping for Fry's to go nationwide, but it's not to be right now.
