I have a Mitsubishi TV Model WD-52327, I am trying to connect my computer to my TV using DVI. when I turn on the computer, and windows start up, a message shows: "NO 720p - CHANGE OUTPUT TO 1080i FOR HD". I cannot even see the desktop to change resolution seetings. At the moment I am using S-video, but what will be the best resolution so I could use the DVI Cable?

I remember I used to used the DVI cable in the past, but the quality of video was bad. While I was playing w/ the resolution, the "NO 720p - CHANGE OUTPUT TO 1080i FOR HD" popped up & now & cant use DVI w/ my computer. Whats the best resolution for me to use so I could watch my computer on my tv using DVI?

Re: Help w/ Resolution

I think you will need to reconnect the computer to a regular computer monitor and set the computer to 640 x 480 at 60 Hz. Then try connecting the DVI cable from the computer to the TV. Then try different resolution settings at the computer.

The TV might accept but probably won't accept 1024 x 768 (768p). The computer might output but probably does not output 1280 x 720 (720p). If you don't get a close match that works, then you have to try to set the computer resolution to something else.

When Windows starts up, it might spend a few seconds in 640 x 480 mode but then switches to the resolution you last specified.

It is possible that the computer does not send anything via S-video except in the 640 x 480 mode.

It is best if Windows lets you preview ot temporarily apply the resolution setting letting you click cancel after a few seconds. This way you don't get the computer set to some resolution neither the TV nor the computer monitor accepts whereby you can't see anything on the screen.
