The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 1-27-2009

Thanks for the Roundup!

The Blu-ray release of the Bourne Trilogy is very tempting at $64.99 but I've been saving up enough money for only one title this week so it's going to have to be Zodiac: Director’s Cut.

DVD & Blu-ray - It's all about the movies!

I'll be picking up Zodiac on Blu-ray and eventually I'll get Any Given Sunday. I'll rent Lakeview Terrace at some point for the fun of seeing Sam Jackson terrorizing his neighbors.

Thanks for the prices, guys!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 1-27-2009

Thanks, gents! I agree with Derek. There are some really nice Blu deals out there this week. But, since I FINALLY took the plunge and bought a Samsung LN46A850, I'm going to have to lay low for a while. Fortunately, I've been buying Blu-ray discs for the past several months, so I already have a BIG stack of titles to keep me busy!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 1-27-2009

I had that title in last week's RoundUp, Tony. It was released on 1-22-09.

It didn't make sense to me that the two titles were being released on blu a week apart...but, then, there is a lot about the 2006 version of The Pink Panther that I don't get.

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

Thanks for the prices, guys. A lot of Blu this week with Bourne Trilogy, Zodiac DC and Groundhog Day. I'll also eventually get Any Given Sunday on Blu, I'm sure.

I may also pick up the Stewardesses 3D SD. It seems like it could be interesting from what I've read about it. And $16.91 at DeepDiscount seems like a decent price for it.
Does anyone even click on these "My Collection" links?

Re: Weekly RoundUp 1-27-2009

Thanks Mike and Patrick!

Picked up the Godfather trilogy at Best Buy today and had them adjust my receipt on Pushing Daisies Season 1 which I previously bought (with a gift card) at $34.99(!). I had no idea the price would drop at BB and Wal-Mart within a week of that purchase.

Would love to add Groundhog Day, Zodiac and the Bourne set to my Blu collection at some point. Anyone have a thought on how long it will take to see a price as good or better on the Bourne set if I wait?

I'm still looking to nab one of these myself, Shawn. Held two copies in my hand at two different stores up in northern Vermont while on a family outing. Unfortunately, at a mall FYE they were asking $24.99 and at a Barnes & Noble they wanted $29.99!

I'll wait until I see the expected $19.99 somewhere. And once I buy it at that pricepoint, something tells me it will be a title that ends up in sales and bargain bins pretty quickly.

================

And, Groundhog Day in Blu will be mine. this will be a triple dip. But, then again, this is one of my all-time favorite films. Very special for me.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 1-27-2009

Went to yet a different Target tonight...along with an FYE.

Still no King Kong at Target. The same empty slot exists on the interior end cap in the DVD section at all three Targets I have checked.

At FYE, in Albany (as opposed to the one in Burlington, VT. I checked Sunday) the same $24.99 price which I refuse to pay since $19.99 seems to be the prevailing low price at Target and Best Buy. If only they would have some in stock.

I just hope I don't go through this same nonsense with Groundhog Day. I am going to want to watch that immediately!

My local Target tells me they have no copies of either King Kong or Groundhog Day on Blu-ray. Although the Electronics clerk assured me that Blu-ray was expanding and that stores will be stocking more titles in the future.

My local Best Buy HAS Groundhog Day...but still no King Kong.

Jeff: Nice work!

I definitely recommend it - both from the story side of it (Christian Faith in marriage theme), and the actual production of it. If you saw and enjoyed Facing the Giants, then I think that you'll enjoy Fireproof. If you didn't see FTG, then I'd recommend that one as well!

I actually bought 2 copies of Fireproof on DVD: One to keep and one to pass around to friends.

I have seen Facing the Giants. Recently, in fact. I enjoyed it for many, many reasons--the most important of which was the message the coach delivered to his players. While much of the writing and acting were rather wooden (mostly the fault of the writers, I fear) my lasting impression of the film is a good one. My 18-year old son...who groaned often about the acting and the predictability of certain scenes..DID stay with it to the end for the payoff. I was very pleased with that.

I have not yet seen Firewall. Have you? It moved up on my in-house queue after I saw Facing the Giants.

Very nice deal on the new 9-disc Pink Panther Classic Cartoon Collection at Costco -- $26.99. It also includes a code for 2 free e-Movie Cash certificates (valued at up to $7.50 each) to see the Pink Panther 2. The 9 discs are each packaged in their own slim case within an outer cardboard sleeve. This helped ease some of the pain of partially double dipping in order to get the rest of the Inspectors and Roland & Ratfink.
