North By Northwest 50th Anniversary blu ray??
North By Northwest 50th Anniversary blu ray??

Are Warner films from England playable on our American BluRay players? I really want this film and will probably get it if it isn't region coded, unless it is also announced for USA release before I order.

It probably won't be region coded, but I would wait for that to be confirmed before ordering. The other fly in the ointment may be that any SD extras will likely be PAL; depends how your display will cope with that.
So many films, so little time...

Actually, all of Warner's BDs so far have had extras in NTSC - even in PAL territories.
Don't tug on that, you never know what it might be attached to...

Re: the foreign artwork: Actually, if the plane was attacking from the south, then from Grant's point of view, the arrows would be pointing north and west.
In the title credits, the northwest arrow is really pointing more to the southwest.

I always looked at the titles as a forced perspective. It's not really pointing southwest, but the attempt at perspective makes it appear so. It's supposedly on the side of a building, and if one moved to a full frontal of the letters (if they really were projected on the building) they would point north and west.
Not a big deal. I just wondered why they chose to go in the opposite direction on the cover art.

Odd how the arrows are pointing in the wrong direction in the title lettering on the cover
Perhaps Warner wants the case to be held upside down.

It will also include:A woman's razor
One frame of THE micro-film
A matchbox reproduction of the Mercedes
A reproduction of the secretary note that says "think thin".
A reproduction matchbook that includes Thornhill's warning message
A reproduction booklet of all the items at the auction
A can of alphabet soup that only includes the letters F, B, I and C, A.

The Blu-ray of North by Northwest will be released on November 3rd.

It says it is from an 8K scan of VistaVision elements.
...the film has received a meticulous restoration and remastering especially for this occasion with Warner Bros. Motion Picture Imaging scanning the original VistaVision production elements in 8K resolution. The resulting presentation reveals a depth of field and clarity never before possible, only serving to heighten every thrill-packed moment of this beloved classic.
Really looking forward to this, it should look great, and hopefully a lot more film-like than the DVD.

Great to hear Simon, I was not even thinking about it too much when I visited my usual source for something else and saw it on the display shelf, naturally I could not resist! It will be a nice addition for a viewing tonight. Hope it looks spectacular.
