I'm selling an extra HD I have laying around. I've never had any problems with it. It's been for extra storage, so has gotten very light use, and has performed without issue. It's a WD Caviar "Enhanced IDE HD". I also have a Rosewill external HD case that is in perfect condition. I have several of these cases and have never had any issues with them.
