I have servel components plugged into my TV. Theres 1 HDMI, 1 component, 1 composite and one thats plugged into the ANT in.

Would i be able to get 5.1 surround if i plug in the digital optical from my tv to the digital optical in on the receiver? Ow will i have to plug the audio cables from the devices directly into the receiver?

Thanks

Re: Digital Optical out on HDTV?

you have to go devices to receiver.

The optical out on a tv is usually for the 5.1 that can be picked up "over the air" with a digital HD antenna.

Re: Digital Optical out on HDTV?

Of all the HDTV's on the market, I have see 1 that passes through 5.1 surround sound from HDMI to the optical output.
