Predictions for more complete series sets.

I'm almost certain we will see a complete Cheers box.

Also, I think Universal will continue in the tradition of the complete Knight Rider with: Quantum Leap, and The A-Team.
Magnum P.I. would be great also.
I remember seeing news that there may possibly be a complete series set of St. Elsewhere coming in 2009. I really hope so.

Re: Predictions for more complete series sets.

I'll buy Magnum, even though I have one through three. I really, really hope for QL to get a complete series with all the music. I'd buy it instantly. The only heavy work they'd have to do would be season four, which hasn't had full music anywhere.

I would love to see that, as I don't have any of the season sets yet. What do you think the packagaing will be like? Peronally, I hope they don't go for anything for gimmiky like a beer glass or a fold out bar or something: a simple box will be adequate enough!

Count me in for the Cheers boxset. I'll buy that in an instant.

Re: Predictions for more complete series sets.

A Cheers Complete Series set is also likely to have special features or additions not previously available in any season sets (given Paramount's past performance with series sets). I still take it as a slap in the face to fans who bought each season set. The least they could do is make the additional features available seperately, even if you have to somehow prove you own all season sets. Just my opinion.

So would I.

Disney/Buena Vista/Miramax: Please put Beautiful Girls on Blu-ray with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer in 1080p, and an anamorphic re-release with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer day-and-date on DVD. Thanks!

I'd love to see Home Improvement in a classic tool shed or tool case type contraption.

Re: Predictions for more complete series sets.

While extras are desirable, more so for me with TV sets then movies, so I can see hoping for more of that or in some cases any based on what has been released in some season sets.

However, I have yet to see any packaging for full season sets worth having. While they can typically look good on the outside, but from what I've seen and read they are typically fragile, cause floating disks in shipment, and most of all scratch disks during normal use.

So are you looking for them for the purpose of more extras or do some actually like the packaging they come in?

Both. I love the MASH complete series box. The Miami Vice complete series looks great, and it's worth having just for the single sided discs. I plan on getting the Knight Rider set for that reason also. I usually do my homework before buying a complete box, so I skip stuff like the Brady Bunch(which is apparently very problematic). So far the most attractive looking complete series I have seen is The Gilmore Girls. Looks really nice.

I'd like to see a Scrubs set even it only contains the NBC episodes.

Re: Predictions for more complete series sets.

Given it only has a year or two left, Lost is an easy call for a complete series set brimming with extras. Be interested to see if they bite the bullet for ER as well.

As for older shows, I'm honestly surprised WB hasn't done a complete series set for Adventures of Superman. Granted, individual seasons are not too expensive, but it would be cool if packaged right with new extras.

These days, especially with the economy, it's darn near impossible to predict these things anymore.

So much TV...

So little money!

I could be wrong but I think Disney/Touchstone has always produced the show and released the DVDs so the switch between networks shouldn't affect a series set.

Since they'll be finished by the end of 2009:

Jag
Waltons
Mission Impossible (the original CBS run, not the 80's remake version0
Wings

Maybe Seventh Heaven

I look at them for lower overall cost and the fact that it's not been abandoned.

But I rarely purchase one because of the craptastic packaging of most complete sets. I hate fancy boxes, cardboard sleeves, etc. and don't need any "collector" junk taking up top shelf space collecting dust. The best ones, IMHO, are those that simply take the individual releases and put them in a outer box/case. Most british series are done this way and look great on the shelf. I purchase DVDs to watch, not to look at a fancy-schmancy box.

That said, I expect to see Cheers, done up in some type of a chinchy bar box, with some type of extra not available separately so as to insult the folks who've collected it all along and kept releases alive. After all, that seems to be the latest trend in full set releases, doesn't it?

And possibly Mission Impossible, in a self destructing tape player box. Also in keeping with the latest trend...

Re: Predictions for more complete series sets.

The Odd Couple is another good choice, and I'm surprised that Paramount hasn't created a special boxed set yet.
Bring "The continuing story of PEYTON PLACE" home on DVD: the one that started it all- from Dallas and Dynasty to Desperate Housewives and Gossip Girl!!! Starting this May, see the legendary saga starring Mia Farrow, Ryan O'Neal, Barbara Parkins, and Oscar-winner Dorothy Malone on DVD thru Shout!...

Re: Predictions for more complete series sets.

I really, really hope that we'll get complete box sets of the following series (I'd buy them in a heartbeat):

- Cheers
- Magnum, PI
- Married with Children
- The Rockford Files

And I'd rebuy all of these series as complete box sets if they where released on Blu-ray:

- Miami Vice
- Star Trek TNG, DS9, VOG, ENT (May be impossible in some cases, I know, but I've heard that Paramount are "experimenting" with it, so who knows)
- Twin Peaks
- The X-Files
