Need advice with AV receiver

Guys:
I am using Panasonic HT 940 HTIB / Panasonic TH-50PX60U ( Plasma TV )-- just purchased Sony S-550 Blue Ray Player -- My problem is that the HT-940 receiver does not have any HDMI -- Optical / Coax inputs. I will connect the S-550 player straight to TV for video but the only option for audio is the standard red / white connections. I am trying to decide if it would be better to purchase a new 1.3 AV receiver with HDMI / Optical connections & keep the speakers or purchase a new HTIB with HDMI / Optical connections.

You've made the mistake of purchasing a HTIB once. Don't make that mistake twice.
