Hi Everyone,
I'm new here so please forgive me if this haas been answered. I have a new 40GB PS3, and I currently have it hooked up to the above (older) LCD projector by component. The projector tells me that it is HDTV60, what exactly does this mean? and is there any other options.

Kind regards

Re: PTAE-100E

Greetings

60 hz ...

If the PS3 sends 24 fp ... and the projector accepts it ... then it would show hdtv24 ... for instance.

The AE100 is a 852x480 projector ... and it won't take a 24 fps signal. You might be able to feed it a 720p signal.

Everything gets downrezed to the panel resolution.

Re: PTAE-100E

Thanks Michael,

One thing I don't understand, is that in the manual it says that it's display reslolution for HDTV60 is 1920x1080i? Isn't 1080i better resolution than 720P?
If not should i be doing something to the PS3 or the projector to display it correctly.

Yes, the original source is that resolution, but the projector down rez's it to fit the panel.

From the ps3 ... best to send 1080i to the projector to eliminate one additional processing step.

Re: PTAE-100E

Thanks Michael,

One more question if I may? Am i getting/seeing a better picture than when I watch a standard dvd player (with component) through it? It seems a lot cleaner, or is it my eyes/imagination wanting to see it?

Better compared to what? The same player on a smaller TV that is set up different?

Never discount the benefits of immersion. Once you watch big enveloping images, it is hard to go back to watching smaller TVs. Sure the picture might be tighter or crisper ... but it is just TV now. The brain craves more.
