Lack of married characters in shows...

I have noticed that in most of the dramas I watch. Their are no married characters. If anything they are divorced or widowed.

-CSI (all of them)
-Life
-Mentalist

I am not saying every show is like this or that their are not dozens of examples of married couples. I just wonder if they have characters single to leave open the possibility of relationships forming with other characters and/or not to tie a character down.

Bring back John Doe! Or at least resolve the cliff-hanger with a 2hr movie or as an extra on a dvd release.
