Receiver Decisions

Most of my knowledge for stereos is all car audio.. SPL geared specifically.. but i am trying to build a nice stereo for my house now that is loud and still sounds decent.. What should i be looking for a stereo? i love listening to a house stereo with big mids so i was thinking about getting some tower speakers with dual 10's, 12's, or 15's.. so i found a couple online:

Buy Cerwin-Vega CLS-215 Dual 15 IN Tower Speaker | Home Audio | Musician's Friend

MTX - Dual 12" 2-Way Professional Loudspeaker (Each) - TP212

what do you guys think of these? and what would i be looking at for powering them? i know the MTX are 4ohm woofers so i would need a receiver that is 4ohm stable.. should i get a receiver that is 4ohm stable or should i look for mids that are only 8ohm woofers?

also would i be hooking up the 10-15" woofers to the sub output on the receiver and the small mid and tweeter to the front channel or how would i hook that up?

Thanks for the help guys

Re: Receiver Decisions

whoa...thats pretty serious...not really a home theater, more of a music studio. Those are more of a DJ set up. I would say that you would probably need an external amp to power something as serious as those, especially at 4 ohms.

I guess you could hook those DJ speakers up on the B-channel with an external amp, and hook up your mids/tweeters on the A-channel fronts.

On the sub output, you would need powered subs, as those are simply a pre-out for the sub.

I can't see many people needing that kind of mains (12/15 inch drivers) PLUS powered subs.
