The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 12-9-2008

Thanks for the Roundup!

Can anyone tell if the new Batman movie is suppose to come out this week? I haven't seen a media blitz for a release like this since the original Shrek came out on DVD. Crazy...

I'm also going to try to find a copy of Peter & the Wolf as I've heard its phenomenally good. And being the animation fanboy that I am I'll probably enjoy it too.

DVD & Blu-ray - It's all about the movies!

So, what are you saying Mike? The Dark Knight comes out this week?

Thanks for your ever loved weekly post!

The DVDs " It Happened One Night" and "Mr Smith goes to Washington" are they something NEW, a special edition?

I've heard something to that effect.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 12-9-2008

Hmmm... I was really hoping a store would come out with a comicbook tie-in exclusive ala the Batman Begins Limited Edition. As it is, I'm torn between the Steelbook version from FYE (because it holds up better) and the Joker slipcover from Circuit City.

Lets see......I'll be getting Lost: Season 4 and Tori Amos: Live At Montreux 1991/92 on Blu-ray. Probably will get the I Am Legend BD set for Christmas.

...............The Dark Knight as well. Getting the Steelbook that Futureshop will carry over here. Probably will have to go early so I might have to come in a little late for work that day. Hmmm......gonna have to think up a good excuse.

Recently watched- The Mummy(1999)[BD], The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe[BD], You Don't Mess With The Zohan[BD], Patriot Games, Groundhog Day[BD]

Currently watching- Heroes: Season 1[BD], SNL 1976-1977: Season 2, Rome: The Complete Series[BD]

Does this mean that Target will have 3 different versions of TDK on BD?
- TDK (BD) $24.99
- TDK (BD): Deluxe Edition $29.99 (with the Batman Mask Packaging)
- TDK (BD): Limited Edition $46.99

I really want the BD with the Batman Mask Packaging (nice compliment to the Target Iron Man BD Packaging), but I was expecting to pick it up for $24.99 (less $3 using the Papa John's coupon). I'm not going to be happy if I will have to pay an additional $5 for the Mask Packaging.

I'm also going to get Dr. Suess' HHaW - not sure which version yet though.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 12-9-2008

Hey Mike...

Those Capra reissues, supposedly through Sony: there's no cover art for them on Amazon or BB.com. The Sony press site only has a Resident Evil 3 pack coming out 12/9. I'm not buying these are real in any manner. I'd love to be wrong, but I don't want anyone to be heart broken if these releases were pulled or are just plain wrong.

Anyway, LOST BD and Dark Knight BD (with batpod!) are both en route. Not like I'll be able to plug either one in until 2011...

I don't know if S1 is also on sale but it's S2 that's pictured in the ad. $20 is a pretty good deal since it came out just under two months ago. I had been waiting for a deal so I picked it up this morning.

It's most probably the 1-disc edition since the Circuit City website list the 2-disc edition for $19.99.

Fred Meyer has a deal on The Dark Knight. Purchase it for $19.99 and they throw in a tall can of "Full Throttle" energy drink.

I'll be getting Season 4 of Happy Days as a CHRISTmas Gift for my Sister. (She was a RABID fan of that show, especially Henry Winkler (The Fonz)!) Other than that I'm as poor as a Church Mouse thank's to my Black Friday Escapades!

Since I am probably the only person in the US that DIDN'T see The Dark Knight in theaters, I'll pass on buying it and just rent instead. Since I hear that it comes out this week....

Oh, I think they're real. But they will be treated like the single-disc catalog re-issues they are and probably reach stores shelves whenever employees finish stocking all bajillion copies of The Dark Knight at their various stores.

I believe you are right, Tim. I think Wal-Mart's packaging DOES also include a comic. My bad for not mentioning it above. I'll go fix that.

That's EXACTLY what it means, Jeff. Sorry but you're gonna have to dig deep for the mask packaging.

I don't know about "Mr. Smith," but "It Happened One Night" presumably is the remastered version which Sony included in the recent "Columbia Pictures: The Best Picture Collection." The video has been improved.

Sony didn't send out screeners of "Mr. Smith" so I can't help you there.

I knew about TDK and Lost but somehow Harry and Lloyd slipped under my radar. I sure home I get some cash for Christmas because I'm going to be flat out broke by then.

I'm also going to try to find a copy of Peter & the Wolf as I've heard its phenomenally good. And being the animation fanboy that I am I'll probably enjoy it too.

Not sure..although I thought I had hear something about Shifting Aspect ratios...nah heard nothing about it...

Re: Weekly RoundUp 12-9-2008

CVS Pharmacy is advertising TDK (single DVD) for $9.99 if you purchase a $15.00 iTunes giftcard. Hopefully it will be the OAR version as the $25.00 combined price is not bad for a gift. Of course, I'll get the more elaborate version for myself...

Re: Weekly RoundUp 12-9-2008

Cripes, ANOTHER movie about some guy running around in his underwear and cape? Was this any good? Did it make a lot of money?

Lost and TDK are both on my Xmas wish list this year, so I will have to wait to see them. I hope the wife has got the MAJOR hints I have given that I really like the CC Joker version!! I would love to get the BD version of TDK, but I'm one of "those people" having issues with the changing aspect ratio. It's only because it doesn't work right with my 2.35:1 screen. So, it's SD 2 disc for me.

Sorry for shaking out my laundry here, Mike!

Edit: Mike, please don't take any offense to the whole "guy running around in his underwear and cape" thing! We all know about your "Captain Tuesday" alter ego!
