I'm looking into buying a new receiver that has HDMI (4 in and 1 out). I understand that I will run seperate HDMI cables from my DVD player, cable box, and XBOX to the inputs on the receiver. Then from the 1 output on the receiver I run it to my TV's HDMI input. My question is....will I still be able to watch a DVD or TV or play a game without my receiver being on and just have the audio come through the speakers on the TV? I love to watch movies and play games with the receiver, with TV I can do without, but my wife hates any sort of amplified sound. If the TV was mono that would be fine with her.

The reason I ask this question in the first place is that this would be my first HDMI receiver, currently my cable box and DVD player have HDMI to the TV and RCA and optical cables ran to the receiver,so I get audio from TV or receiver. I switch the HDMI cable back and fourth with the XBOX and DVD player.

Thanks,
Matt
