Upgrading to HDMI

Hi,

Have cable box connected to older Sony Bravia 720p HDTV via component cable and separate audio cables. Planning to purchase DVI-HDMI cable (cable box only has DVI) to make video connection. Three questions:

1. Understand DVI is video only. Will I have to keep separate audio cables?

2. Is there any reason to leave the component cable hooked up after I install the DVI-HDMI cable?

3. After Feb 9, will 4:3 aspect ratio disappear on my HDTV. IAW, some channels (non digital?) on my tv are have gray bars on sides, due I suppose to being analog. When digital is complete, will those bars disappear?

TIA for your help.

Can I assume the Sony tv has hdmi? Can you get a cable box with hdmi from the Cable company? DVI is so old school.

Not entirely. There are quite a few older shows being broadcast in HD right now that are still 4:3. It might be a while before everything is 16:9, if ever.
