Sony BDP-S300 Blu-ray Disc Player problem?

Hi all,

I have the above-mentioned unit, which I've recently upgraded to firmware version 4.30. I've been operating the unit for approximately two months now. It has performed perfectly almost always. However, something has occurred on three occasions now that has me wondering if my player is defective.

I'll be playing a DVD and suddenly, randomly, the player will freeze as if I pressed pause. The image freezes, audio ceases, and I cannot stop the disc, eject the disc or power off the unit. The only thing I can do is unplug it from the outlet and plug it back in to reset it. Once I've done this, the player will play though the section it had frozen upon without a problem.

Anyone else experience this?

Any thoughts from the experts here would be greatly appreciated.

I am certainly no expert, but my BDP-S300 with firmware 4.30 does the exact same thing. I wonder if it occurs when changing layers, because it seems to happen into the movie a bit in my case.
