Need Help Optimizing Yamaha RX-V463

Hi,
I just got the Yamaha RX-V463 and the Infinity TSS-500 speaker system.

I am a home theater novice and need some help.

When I run the YPAO (Yamaha Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer) it returns:
W-3:LEVEL ERROR
“SWFR:TOO LOW”

The manual says:
If “SWFR:TOO LOUD” or “SWFR:TOO LOW” appears, adjust the output volume of the subwoofer.

I have adjusted the subwoofer volume and still get this.

The results it shows are:

DISTANCE:
Front L = 13.5 ft
Front R = 15.0 ft
Center = 13.0 ft
Sur L = 9.5 ft
Sur R = 9.0 ft
Swfr = 34.0 ft
(Note: The distances it measures are all accurate except the subwoffer - which is actually 15ft.)

SIZE:
Front L = Sml
Front R = Sml
Center = Sml
Sur L = Sml
Sur R = Sml
Crossover = 160Hz

LEVEL:
Front L = +10dB
Front R = +9dB
Center = +8dB
Sur L = +8dB
Sur R = +8dB
Swfr = -10dB


Why is it reporting Subwoofer Too Low, and what can I do about it?

Anyone have any advice or help?

I am no expert but I have the save receiver that you do. I haven't had it that long, but I reran the auto setup when I rearranged my speakers. I noticed that the subwoofer came out at 31 feet, but that seemed way too much. So I turned the subwoofer volume up -- almost to the max, and ran the auto setup again. That's when I got the "too low" warning for the subwoofer. I turned the volume back down on the subwoofer (it has its own volume and cutoff controls) and the warning went away (and the distance returned to 31 feet. which is still seems wrong, but everything seems to work OK now). If your subwoofer does not have its own volume control, you might try going into manual setup and making some subwoofer adjustments there, then see if the warning goes away when you run auto setup again. Hope this helps.

Thanks Susan,

I must have run the calibration over 20 times.
On the subwoofer I have 3 plugs, LFE, Left, and Right.
One time I plugged it into the Right instead of the LFE and was able to get it to say it was successful, even though the subwoofer distance was wrong. I told it to save those results.

I called Yamaha, they told me to plug it into the Left and try it while they listened in. It came back with the same Subwoofer Too Low message. They told me how to get in manually using the Band/Level/Title key and adjust the level of the subwoofer to 0. They didn't think anything was wrong, but it was the accoustics of my room. It is in a "great room" with a vaulted ceiling and hard floors.

I thought the adjustment gave too much subwoofer, so I set it back to where it was. Everyone likes the sound, so I'm just going to leave it this way...
