Re: STANLEY KUBRICK's "A Clockwork Orange" on Blu-ray Disc
I think, for a Blu-ray, it looks rather unimpressive--easily the worst of the Kubrick BD titles--and should be remastered and repressed. It's certainly watchable--let me never be accused of suffering from AVS-style anal retentiveness--but it's very much not up to snuff. Perhaps some of its visual anomalies can be attributed to its low budget origins, but I'm not convinced they all could. I'm positive A CLOCKWORK ORANGE could have greater precision than this. My chief concern lies with the almost blurry aspect of much of the footage, and the fact that oftentimes, the colors don't quite ring true. Overall, the viewing experience is fine, but I believe there should, and could, have been a much more pronounced jump in quality from the SD to the BD--in a few limited moments, it actually looks like the SD may have slight image advantages to the BD and I've never encountered any other title I'd say that about (and I own well over 100 BDs).

Personally, I think it looks great. I think the film is simply problematic and photographed. It has a film-like look and I wouldn't want it falsely sharpen it.

I never argued otherwise, and its overall virtues certainly outpace the SD's; that being said, I still maintain that I don't believe this is as good as it can get.
