Anyone upgraded to Parallels 4, esp with a BootCamp configuration? Worth the $40? Thanks!

but I found a very helpful (and glowing) review of Parallels 4 at Information Week.
| I'm now questioning what Parallels 4 is, besides Parallels 3 with new icons and rearranged menus. What did I get for my $40 upgrade? I upgraded gladly, looking forward to improved speed through dual-core support, ease of use and multiple monitor support. Having spent an evening fighting with it to reconfigure my previously working multi-account setup, I found that multi-monitor support is not really part of PD4. My experience, and the reports on the forums, is that PD4 is no faster, and perhaps slower, than PD3; and I've seen comments that enabling dual-core support would slow it down and is not recommended?!?! And given the chronic reports that Parallels Tools aren't installed (are they? I can't tell) it's clearly no easier to use. Stability remains to be seen. So I'm really wondering what the point of PD4 is? Shame on me for buying hastily and not doing my research, but what does PD4 do? Really, I've gone from happy for an easy first install to complete annoyance for wasting my money and time switching from PD3. |
