Hello all, I am installing low tech audio in a 30x70X12 building. It is our photography studio-hair salon and we just want some background music. I inherited 2000 ft of unshielded, 2 conductor, 18 gauge twisted strand CMP wire. CMP has a better jacket for plenum runs than CMR. CMP downgrades to the CL3R spec for (through wall).
Anyway from my research I need 16 gauge minimum for 80 to 100 ft runs, So if I combine 2 strands of 18 gauge I will have 15 gauge equivalent. Should be enough.
Question is, when doubling wire, should I combine 2 reds and the 2 blacks for each side of the speaker? or combine the red and black of each wire for each side of the speaker? Sorry I cannot explain it better, but I think you guys know what I am trying to say.
What is the best way to do this? I know the twist has something to do with canceling hum, I just don't have any experience here, and don't want to make a mistake.
