Onkyo 805 sub thump

I've been researching this problem all morning with little luck. When the audio signal switches such as when I'm watching satellite and a commercial comes on, I get the dreaded thump from the sub.

The sub is fed from the sub-out on the receiver. The sub does have the option of receiving L+R line level signals. Since the sub has a low-pass filter would receiving the signal via the L+R inputs help at all ?

I'm grasping at straws here.

Re: Onkyo 805 sub thump

You need to clarify how the sub is connected now. Your terminology seems to have some conflicts, so be a specific as you can.

Make sure you set listening modes on your 805. If you leave it at "last valid" or "default", it will change each time your source changes and will cause clicking, dropouts, and maybe the sound you are getting from your sub.

I thought about that but if I set certain listening modes and that audio signal is not present from a particular source what will happen ? For example, if I set Dolby Digital while watching TV and that signal is not available what happens ?

Re: Onkyo 805 sub thump

Try setting something like PLII or PLIIx for all.
