I didn't see another thread dedicated to this package, so I thought I'd mention it. The set packs Columbia's 11 Best Picture winners from 1934's "It Happened One Night" through 1982's "Gandhi".
The interesting aspect of the set? It appears to present new transfers of a number of its titles. I checked the dates for all the discs, and five of the 11 were done a few months ago. That list includes "All the King's Men", "From Here to Eternity", "On the Waterfront", "Oliver!" and "Kramer Vs. Kramer".
None of the 11 offer ancient transfers. "It Happened One Night" and "You Can't Take It With You" are the discs from the 2006 "Premiere Frank Capra" set, while "Bridge on the River Kwai" and "Lawrence of Arabia" are the same discs from spring 2008. "Gandhi" comes from the 2007 25th anniversary edition, and "A Man For All Seasons" replicates the 2007 special edition.
I don't know how the five new transfers will compare to their predecessors - it's gonna take me a while to dig through them and make comparisons - but I thought I'd mention what's in this set. I had expected the package to include rehashes of moldy old transfers, so I'm surprised to find that new work apparently has been done for it...
