best Receiever, for Movie only.

I have a Yamaha 7.1 Dolby/DTS HT reciever, 2 years old, and wanting to finally upgrade to HD Lossless Audio.
I want to hear recommendations for brand of reciever for a more punchy in your face crispness, rather than the more softer sound of HK , Yamaha, etc..
0% for music.
This is for a 2 row seating 12 x 22 foot sealed room.
Projector, 110" screen, Polk Rti series speakers, SVS PB12 x 2 Sub(beast)
I think I'll get the Panny ae3000 for my 1080P upgrade and the Pioneer BDP 51FD ,BD player. it's what I'm looking at. Purchase will be within a month.
Budget $1,500 give or take. Canadian.

Hey Steve. In your price range, if I were doing it, I would consider the following. Denon: AVR-2809CI, AVR-2309CI. Also there's: Pioneer Elite VSX-92TXH, VSX-91TXH, VSX-03TXH. Finally, there's: Onkyo TX-SR806. I own an Onkyo TX-SR605 and love it.

I was told Denon AVR series are also a soft(musical) type reciever ?
I was thinking Onkyo or Pioneer Elite in the 1200-1500 price range.
clean POWER... Speakers obviously play a big part, I run Rti 8, Fxi5, and Rti4, and a CSi5 centre, + SVS PB 12+2.
I may upgrade my Rti's ? A lot of people say they are good for HT, even HD Audio ?

I'm going to look up the SR-806.

Pioneer Elite VSX-94TXH vs Onkyo SR875
Pure clean power.
No video upscale needed...purely to watch BD movies, clear and loud.
No Ipod radio etc..
DTS HD Blu-ray......clean accurate reproduction.
Polk Rti upgrade to ?

I have Polk RTi8 fronts, CSi3 center, FXi3 bi-pole/di-pole back surrounds and JBL Balcony side surrounds. Your RTi4's and FXi5's are only recommended for 20-125 watts per channel. Given that both the receivers you are considering put out 140 watts to each channel may give cause for concern. The rest of your speakers are more than capable to handle it. RTi8's can handle 20-250 watts per channel and CSi5 can handle 20-200 watts per channel.

hmmm.. yes 140 watts. Max ,Peak, But a cleaner sound at 60-70% capacity vs pushing a 100 watt amp harder.
I've been wanting Rti12's up front and move Rti8 to rear.
I have not heard them yet though as not many retailers carry them here.
Seems Pioneer is more performance in whatever price bracket.
I like to EQ tweek my sound ie; Onkyo.
But, I keep hearing Issues ? and more Issues ? sound lags, heat, etc..
I'm torn between the two brands at this point.
Anyone with Onkyo pr Pioneer User experience ?

Yamaha HTR 6290
Going to listen to one this aft. w/polk speakers.
and the Denon AVR 989.
1600 and 1200 respectively.
WE'll see.
wish I could find Onkyo/pioneer on display in my area.(ottawa)

Got a Yamaha HTR 6190 ... same as VX 1800
also decided on a pair RtI A9 for fronts and move Rti8 to rears.
I like the tweekability.
and the 3 pre outs for possible future amps.
Hopefully I don't drown out my CSi front ? Maybe double up on them ? We'll see.
Now for projector decisions, then I'll be done for my upgrade.

That is what system calibration is for. A center that matches the fronts is the better way to go. Dual centers is rarely a good idea.

Good point, and I'm hoping I can get a decent balance with calibration.
even at similar SPL readings I find larger speakers sometimes dominate with sound, not volume, but fill the space more..especially at moderate volume levels. hard to explain(for me), but I'm going to try with calibration for a bit. Rti12's eqivelant with CSi5 centre.
Maybe my room set up etc.. are factoring in ?
12 x 22 sealed room 7.5' ceiling. HT room.
