My iMac is now taking 5+ minutes to boot since latest patch and crash!

Tried everything referenced here but nothing is helping, seems I am not alone:
Apple - Support - Discussions - iMac takes forever to fully boot -- how ...

My iMac locked up in the middle of the night this week as I was transferring about 20 gigs worth of files from my macbook to the desktop, it apparently tried to go into sleep mode even tho I am sure I told it not to.

Then tonight my cat stepped on the key to bring up the widgets and it stopped in its tracks, looked like it was doing one frame every 100 seconds or so. Now I have rebooted it a bunch of times and it still takes 5-10 minutes to boot!

Once booting tho it seems stable but I'm terrified its gonna crash hard on me. I have a wedding to shoot saturday and a baby shower to shoot sunday so no way i can bring it to the Apple store this weekend =( Then I go back on the road for 5 days =( =(

I think I figured it out, seems during the crash the USB drives turned themselves off, and on reboot it was looking for them for quite a bit. Plugged em in and reboot and things got a bit more snappy.

Sam - Glad you solved the problema. This would be an excellent time to run Disk Warrior. I imagine your directory is a little scattered from the botched copy.
