cannot hear PIP commentary on Pan's Labyrinth HD DVD

Yes I know, dead format but I am trying to watch Pan's Labyrinth with the PiP commentary and I cannot hear what Guillermo is saying. Tried changing audio tracks but no go.

I have an HD-X2 with nothing but an HDMI wire out to a Pioneer VSX-9120.

any help would be great. thanks!

Try this: go into the setup menu and under audio options, select secondary audio to "on".
If this works, just remember to change it back to "off" before you play your next flick.

Hi, thanks for the info but when I went into the set up menu of the HD X2 under audio there was not secondary audio option nor anything resembling it.

any other ideas?

Hmmm, did you check the other categories in the setup menu for the secondary audio option?
If you don't see a secondary audio option, I'm not sure what to tell you. I'm actually not even sure what an X2 is. As far as I know, there was an A2 and an XA2. Is X2 a European name for the A2?

Sorry, yes XA2.

In the set up menu options are:

Picture
Audio
Language
Ethernet
General

I went into Audio and the options are:

Digital Out SPDIF
Digital Out HDMI
Dynamic Direct Adio Mode
Synamic Range Control
Dialog Enhancement
Speaker Setting

I checked under General after that and then all there others and nothing about secondary audio.

FYI it has the 2.7 firmware update.

Dynamic Direct Audio Mode

Turn this off. You are getting direct digital audio streaming into your receiver, so the player can't mix in the pip audio. You have to decode the audio in the player in order to mix in the pip.
