Connection Problems?

I have an LG DN798 DVD player connected via an HDMI cable to a Yamaha RX-V661 A/V Receiver, connected to a Panasonic CT-27SL13 TV. I've attempted to connect the receiver and TV by component and composite video cables but cannot get a picture. Audio is fine thru receiver. I THINK that the TV's component input is functioning since I can see the receiver configuration menu on the TV when the video input is set to the component setting. No clue what's going on, so any help/advice greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Connection Problems?

Why aren't you using an HDMI cable between the Yamaha receiver and the TV? Does the TV only support component video? It sounds like you have found that the Yamaha receiver will not convert all video sources to component video.

Re: Connection Problems?

Yeah, receivers don't usually downconvert HDMI to component. Either connect the receiver to tv with HDMI, or connect the dvd player to receiver with component. That should work better.
