Casino is a terrific movie.
And it contains all of the visceral materials that make up the great Martin Scorsese films, inclusive of that certain dynamism.
I'm thinking that Universal has ported over the same master used for the HD, as although this is a quality disc, it seems to have a bit of an electronic feel to it.
I mention this only for the record, and not to put anyone off purchasing this disc, as I'm not seeing it as a problem.
Other than that, the color, densities and audio (which is lossless) are superb.
We need more Scorsese on Blu-ray.
Recommended.

Re: A few words about...™ Casino -- in Blu-ray
This venture into Scorseseland is far, far above the last quality-wise, which was impermissible.
Casino plays fine even on a large screen.
Still many projects yet to come to Blu.

If I have the HD DVD, is it worth upgrading (keep in mind that I will not upgrade ONLY for "lossless" audio)?

Possibly a bit better throughput, but if you already own the HD, you may wish to stay with it unless you are consolidating to Blu. A rebate from Universal for those who purchased the HD might make this a bit more palatable.

With over 120 HD DVD titles, I'm not consolidating to Blu anytime soon. Guess I'll hold on to the HD DVD for the foreseeable future.

As far as Scorsese on BD goes, I'm hoping Disney revisits Kundun soon with a new transfer. I never picked up the non-anamorphic DVD that is 10 years old, and as far as Scorsese films go, it's a personal favorite.
I already own GoodFellas, The Aviator, and The Departed. I'll pick up Casino soon, too. Hopefully MGM sees fit to release Raging Bull soon, and we know that Sony is prepping Taxi Driver. Hopefully The Age of Innocence is not too far off from Sony, either.
