I liked this one way more than I expected to

Harvey Mandel - Planetary Warrior

Great instrumentals, but the songs with vocals aren't so good. His co-writer/vocalist leaves a lot to be desired.

Bob Dylan - Tell Tale Signs: The Bootleg Series, Vol. 8 (3 disc deluxe edition)
- Dylan's later period has always been my favorite of his; to have a window into his creative process, to hear early versions of some of the great newer songs, along with live versions and outtakes, is simply priceless. I was given this for Christmas, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was still in regular rotation next Christmas as well.

The Police - Certifiable
Yeah, I'm kind of addicted to the new Blu-ray/CD set. I watch the BD more than I listen to the CDs, but when I'm at work or traveling, the CD has been in regular rotation as well.

Allan Pettersson, Symphony 5

I'm astonished that in the decades that I've been immersed in classical music, I've never heard of this composer until recently. I haven't made it through all 15 symphonies yet, but the 11 I've heard so far are just incredible!

...And then there's the guy who saw the sign that said "Wet Floor", so he did.

I just started listening to "Electric Arguments" (McCartney) which is probably his best work in years.. maybe since Wings.

It has a feel a lot like "The White Album". I'm really enjoying it. (Sunshine & Two Magpies are my favs at the moment)

Eric Mouquet's new Deep Forest style album "DeepBrasil" is pretty freaking incredible. It reminds me of everything I love about "Boheme" and "Comparasa".. it's insanely brilliant; one of the under-appreciated artists going (IMHO)..

While listening to the closing movement of the Brahms Violin Concerto over the closing credits of "There Will Be Blood" last night, I was thinking to myself "This sounds like that awful woman violinist I hate so much, now what is her name?" And sure enough, later in the credits, there was her name! To me, her playing always sounds too tense and tight, never natural or flowing.
