Gossip Girl season 2 thread

How can a dope like D still get S to come back to him?

J taught her new bitchboss a lesson, funny stuff.

B and the lord will be a short-lived contrivance, but Chuck's insistence to stay true to his own self-image will let it linger on.

N has the best hook-up situation with Madchen Amick who continues to get hotter as the years roll by.

Hoping the summer-to-school transistion episode is the weakest of the season because it got far too soapy and not as socially vicious as we viewers deserve on a weekly basis.

My guilty pleasure. I'd watch just for S.

Re: Gossip Girl season 2 thread

It's weird how this show can be so juvenile in terms of manipulation and machinations by the characters, and yet the characters remain sympathetic in odd ways, or have this fun bit of cat-n-mouse chemistry not seen since the days of Tom and Jerry.

It is sort of interesting that they flipped the script on N, where usually it's the hot girl with the family financial troubles who has to rely on an older guy to bail her family out, as he becomes the boy-toy of the Duchess in order to keep his family's lifestyle in play.

I thought that was a good touch too. And funny. I thought the entire resistance to his accepting Chuck's help was also interesting.

Re: Gossip Girl season 2 thread

Finally, D and S are dunzo for now. They may have good offscreen chemistry, but all of their scenes as a couple just stop the show in its tracks. J had a good night, even if it meant getting fired. B and C deserve each other, too bad it takes the darkness to show them the light. N and V will be the star-crossed couple of the season. V's got amazing eyes. The Duchness has a heart black as coal, and a sex-drive of a black widow.

Re: Gossip Girl season 2 thread

S's outfit was very distracting in the latter half of the episode.

B's exasperation with V was actually funny. Leighton Meester does a good job balancing the bitchiness of B with just enough uncertainty and humanity to not make her a total beeyotch.

C is having fun with Lonely Boy and S's breakup. Kudos. Well played, sir. Who really throws a Nair-bomb on other girls? That's got all sort of backfire potential.

N and V are jumping ahead to the Veronica Mars theme song. Poor V, she can't catch a break. Doing "right" got her alot of wrong.

R and L - is there really anything going for them? Glad R basically told L to shove off and lie in the empty bed she made by marrying C's dad.

Hoping J really can deal the killing blow to the bitchy girls for being mean to her on a daily basis.

Looks like the lord and duchess have left town for the time being.

Re: Gossip Girl season 2 thread

B and S are clearly in different places now; S is definitely Queen Bee, and B is feeling all left out. "Don't hide your light".... great scene there.

So, Chuck Bass.. true that his mom died in birth, or all BS? Who cares, D doesn't have any interest in following up, because he basically is a crappy writer. If all your stories are about one thing, it's not that you don't have experience, it's that you don't have any imagination.

Ah, tsk tsk on the dropping out of school.. who knows how that wil come back to bite you as a tenth grade drop out; here's hoping she starts her work on a GED or makes her effort.. but always good to know that the fashion industry is OK with slave child labor

Re: Gossip Girl season 2 thread

Nothing like a F-ing B and S catfight.

C does rule.

The D and N show could show promise.

L was rocking that black number. R needed some help rolling his tongue back into his mouth.

Entertaining episode.

Re: Gossip Girl season 2 thread

She may be a queen bitch, but holy crap is B hot in the end sequence. And wow could I go for the same kind of sequence from S.

Good shoot down at the party. Can Chuck and V really have anything real?

So B and Chuck dance around each other all episode to finally realize, no matter what, they love the game more then each other, and it breaks B's heart

S goes after the lonely artist type to find out he's not a single woman man.

Nate finally makes his play.

And what is Little J thinking, that she'll start her own clothing line at 16? Oh, how Project Runway must be scoffing!

Re: Gossip Girl season 2 thread

B runs into the man who can poison his own cup! Cyndi Lauper shows up and shames B into wanting what's good for her mom.

S can't get into the polyamorous vibe... or can she?

D totally goes chicken s--- when faced with a real story that he drops for his normal "ah shucks" reasons, rather then go after his dream of being a real journalist.

Little J is totally headed for disaster.

Re: Gossip Girl season 2 thread

Little J kind of comes to her senses.
Things between Bart and his "fam" are headed south fast
Prince N tries to makeup with V, but is little J still at all in the picture? He says no, but V says... maybe

A wedding & a death in the future... and how will that go?

Re: Gossip Girl season 2 thread

So, B tries to cool Chuck's self destructive jets.
S is in for a shock as she has to realize she has a brother she doesn't know of yet.. and a shared relative with her boy-back in the mix lonelyboy.
LittleJ tries to upset the applecart with the step girls and it the results aren't what she expected.
Can Chuck real it back in?

Guilty pleasure programming continues, damn, they sure know how to flaunt the skirt in this show

Doh! S comes to her senses and decides to go to the college she wants instead of the one she chose to spite B.

B still wants revenge, but not on S.

That must be the youngest teacher... EVER. But, hey, she's hot, so who cares.

The entire sequence with the opera... great stuff

Glad to see Laura Breckingridge (new teacher Rachel) back on TV after "Related" was canned a few years ago. She's actually 25 years old.

Re: Gossip Girl season 2 thread

GG delivered the goods this week.

Lonely boy discovers "Hot For Teacher" can be a very bad thing.. but when they aren't a teacher, just a thing
Blair gets her heart broken..
Chuck finds himself mixed up into a long "Eyes Wide Shut" reprise
Meanwhile Blair re-enacts the entire sequence from "300" (loved the changed monologue and camera movements to match the film)

But what an ending

Re: Gossip Girl season 2 thread

So lonely boi gets the hookup in the school broomcloset and finally figures out the teacher is messed up.

Queen B realizes who she is and isn't happy about it.

S falls for a complete douche. At least she realizes it within the episode.

N stands up for his girl; though I was really hoping he'd throw a punch.

Call me a dirty old man, but Queen B was SMOKING hot this week. SMOKING HOT.

So, now we have Chuck and V as an item while B and Nate re-unite.

And who's that with Poppy? He looks so familiar from last season, but I can't remember that storyline.

Re: Gossip Girl season 2 thread

Well, the Season ends but of course.. Gossip Girl has her way with the graduation and throws some wrenches at the crowd. Some good surprises there. I tended to agree with most of the assessments.

I still think Rufus/Lily = Terrible mistake.

But que sera. While I'm the only one updating the thread, and maybe the last watching, I thought S2 was much better then S1.

Re: Gossip Girl season 2 thread

The show always stops in its tracks when the focus is on Rufus and Lily.

So GG is taking the show on the road to college, who didn't see that coming? I'm still amazed this show got renewed since its ratings still aren't that great.
