Tonally the season 6 premiere was all over the map. You got love-sick Lucas and Peyton finally making a go of it. Nathan's got a serious need for Doan's pills. Dan and Carrie make for a nice dysfunctional couple. Skillz and Deb are hilarious together. Mouth and Millie get the boot (not sure if it's for good). A one-note dynamic between Brooke and her bitchmom. At least Haley and the kid are dancing their troubles away.
The writers appear to be wanting to go out in a blazy of infamy for this season. Can't wait to see what they have in store for us, but I gather it'll be dark and nasty.

I haven't watched the episode yet, but...

If you mean by "together" what I think you mean by "together", I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

As soon as you saw that A+ on that report, you just knew he was a goner.
Dan and Carrie were simply fun to watch in a trainwreck kind of way.
Jamie is still far too cute for words.

Holy crap, tonight's episode got to me, it pulled all the right strings, but without it being overly-manipulative. It even brought forth a reasonable catalyst for Psycho Carrie's obsession with Jamie. That scene between Jamie and Brandon in the front yard just hit the right notes, in fact, all of Jamie's scenes were right on the money. I'll alway wonder if Sam Walker plagiarized her way through her essay on Q and the wake he left behind.

I watched that scene of Deb smacking Carrie in slow-motion at least 4 times. Awesome.

Yay, Mouth is back!
Dan's tilting at windmills trying to get Deb back.
Slam Ball should put an end to Nathan's playing days.

Although OTH's season finale felt like a series finale (very upbeat, too), it's actually coming back for another season, sans Lucas and Peyton as a deal couldn't get done for Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton. So, a few new characters will show up next season, and Julian's character will be back as Austin Nichols got promoted to be a regular for next season.
Also, I checked out Kate Voegele's concert last Wednesday night, and here are some photos. Kate plays Mia on the show.

Next season seems really pointless.
