The new season starts on Sunday.

Some episodes and seasons of this show are better than others but I usually have fun when I watch it.

Re: Entourage: Season Five

I love Entourage.
And it's been awhile since season 4
So I breezed through Season 4 to play memory refresh.
I had so much fun watching this again(especially in a marathon that I did)

Anxiously awaiting season 5

Ugh, that why 10:00pm on Sunday is just the worst possible time for this show. You just want to kill yourself watching Vince and knowing you have to go to work on Monday.

Did he say 79 cents? I thought he said $79 a day. 79 cents makes it even better.

Re: Entourage: Season Five

I thought the premiere was a little weak, too much just going around in circles trying to corral Vince.

Yeah, but I'll tell you. It seemed like that shot of Vince and that chick in the bungalow was just a hair (tee hee) from showing actual penetration. I wonder if it was really happening.

But as I have suggested, this show really like to rub in how great Vince's life it. It can get irritating sometime, especially at 10:00 on Sunday night. They should really have it on like Friday at 9:00pm to psyche you up before going out on the town, if that's what you're into.

Re: Entourage: Season Five

I enjoyed the season premiere.

Loved it when Ari called Llyod Yoko

Glad to see that Drama still has a relationship with Jaquline

Ebert and Roeper show reviewing Medellin was great
and how Ari saying he tied beer cans to Roeper balls back in the day was hilarious.

The other line I thought was funny was Drama saying that Roger Ebert singled out his performance in License to Drive.

It's great to see Eric expanding his Murphy Group.

and I'm assuming from last years news that they promised us at least five extra episodes to make up for last year's season of the writers strike.

I thought the season premere was very strong.

I particularly loved the ending, which showcased how much Drama loves and wants to protect Vince, along with his awesome crazyness.

They didn't lose any episodes to the writer's strike last year. The only effect the strike had was delaying the start of production this season (which is why the episodes didn't air in the summer).

Re: Entourage: Season Five

Finally watched the premiere last night and thought it was great. Looks like they're back to form after a somewhat lackluster season 4.

I swear, whoever writes Ari's dialogue is an absolute genius and Piven should get an Emmy every year for his portrayal. He is hands down one of my all-time favorite TV characters.

Re: Entourage: Season Five

Can someone refresh my memory on something that happened last season? Or for all I know, it wasn't even last season. It was a script that Billy wrote based on a book (called 'Walk in the Clouds' or something like that), but Billy completely changed it. Then Vince liked it so much that he wanted to do it with Billy. I even thought that was how the season ended, but they didn't make any reference to it either in this episode or in the 'previously on' segment.

That stuff with A Walk In The Clouds was S3. By the end of S3, Eric and Vince had bought the script to Medellin, hired Walsh and were off to make the movie. S4 started with the faux behind the scenes documentary on Medellin episode. As the season went on, E and Vince saw Walsh's cut and E thought the movie was bad/needed work. Walsh still submitted it to Cannes and it got in. In the last episode, they went to Cannes for the screening and it tanked hard.

Good thing I got those S4 DVDs.

Re: Entourage: Season Five

Thanks Travis. That's either a knock on my horrible memory, or a knock on HBO for going so long between seasons (or both). So I don't even remember, did they ever revisit that Walk In The Clouds script? (Wasn't it called 'Silo' or something?) Was it ever mentioned after that episode where they were celebrating on the roof when E was nowhere to be found? (Why do I remember those details but can't remember anything else?)

I think in the second to last episode of S4, Walsh was trying to get Anna Faris to co-star in the movie but E told her to pass. I'm guessing you have to assume that the studio decided to stop production or got another star and director after Medellin's Cannes screening. For a sitcom, this show is pretty good with continuity so I wouldn't surprised to hear a line of dialogue that says what happened at some point.

And also, the French woman that Drama was talking to on a webcam in the new episode is the same woman/rabid Viking Quest fan that he was having sex with on the beach at the end of last season.

Since it had been a while since I had seen it, I rewatched the whole series last month or else I wouldn't have remembered most of that stuff either.

Re: Entourage: Season Five

You have the sequence a little messed up. The reason that Billy got the opportunity to write Clouds/Silo because the buzz from Medellin was so good after the trailer was leaked. I guess we were left to believe that Silo got pulled when the Medellin screening bombed.

Wow, a Marky Mark appearance. Funny slag on "The Truth about Charlie".

Looks like Vince hit rock bottom professionally and decided the only direction for him is up, up, up.

Re: Entourage: Season Five

I thought last night's ep was one of the stronger ones in a while. Good funny stuff with the guys. It also moved some plot lines along -- Vince needs a comeback, E gets new clients, Drama gets single. I didn't like bringing the virgin singer back, but maybe she'll be a good complication. Loved Turtle pushing hard to get action. Cameos by Tony Bennett and Marky Mark and a return of Carla Gugino.

Re: Entourage: Season Five

It's funny how Vince's career path is turning out to be not that dissimilar from Drama's. Both not tremendously great actors who enjoyed some success, but blew it by their attitudes alienating pretty much everyone in the business. As a "regular" guy, it always pissed my off watching Vince do virtually everything in his power to blow his ride. Thank God that Ari finally gave it to him straight and now Vince is finally, supposedly willing to put his "On my terms" attitude aside.

I think a lot of what Vince did in the past was admirable, even though it was horrible for his career. He just didn't want to play that Hollywood "game" (which is all it is). And I always admired how he would tell the fellas, "What's the worse that could happen? We go back to Queens and live the way we did before we got here."

In this episode, I did enjoy Ari's candor with Vince about how he's not a good actor. I had to wonder if Jeremy Piven was actually talking to Adrien Grenier in that scene.

Yeah, from a certain standpoint he is admirable and generous and being "all about his boys." The show has to give him some traits to make him likable. But also from a certian standpoint, he's more of a typical "young, Hollywood douchebag" then he may think. Up until this point, he's pretty much had a "Fuck what anybody else thinks" attitude espicially to the people who are trying to help him the most, and it may have ruined his career. Like I said, at least for me, who would kill for a taste of the life he leads, it's been painful watching him sabotage his own career like this for so long. Yeah, he doesn't want to "play the game" but putting himself in the game and then refusing to play it just seems stubborn. Most careers has a "game" that needs to played in order to win favor.

On another note, and I'll preface this by saying I'm far from being a political correctness stickler. But I'm surprised I haven't seen any complaints about this show for how incredibly misogynistic it seems. It seems like 95% of the females that apper on the show might as well be complete walking vaginas. It doesn't bother me so much. But with all the complaints people lodge at TV shows and movies, I'm surprised it hasn't come up.

I think it's mostly due to the fact that the show is on HBO which has for the most part been immune to the "PC police" in the past. Look at how vulgar, mysogynistic, homophobic and violent The Sopranos was and it only ruffled the feathers of one group(the Italian anti-defamation league) in 7 seasons on the air. Personally, I'm glad there's still a network on the air like HBO that doesn't have to play by the rules and allows an "anything goes" attitude with its' shows.

I'd like to hope that no one would be offended by the show since I think their only intent is to be a fun time for (primarily) guys. It would be like me getting offended by negative depictions of men on Sex And The City.

Me too. And like I said, I'm not bothered or anything like that. I just found it strange that it never seems to come up. For example, sometime I say un P.C. things about women to my wife (nothing horrible of course, mostly stuff in the vein of the things that many men complain about women. Like I'll say something like "all you women are alike" and she'll get mad at me) but she doesn't say anything about Entourage where practially every woman on the show is just there for Vince to bang.
