DIY Home Theater for under £10 ($20)

I have been dying to tell someone about this. It is only a basic, cheap setup - so if you're into the top of the range then move on! The kit I purchased can be bought online, just search for "big screen tv projector". You receive all the instructions, plus a lens which is the main part of the projector.

The housing is made from cardboard, and you use your normal, portable television. The picture quality isn't fantastic, but I would be happy if I'd spent £50 on it! The image is almost 6 feet accross, and is easily watchable for several hours.

Has anyone else ever tried it?

Re: DIY Home Theater for under £10 ($20)

Reminds me of when I added a 8 megabyte RAM card to my Amiga. It was still just an Amiga with an 8 megabyte card.

I'd be interested in someones experience with this method. No way would I ever try it.

Is that the one with the frensal lens? That has been around for years. When it can give a comparable high def picture to my Panasonic projector, I'll give it a look. Until then, I'll spend the extra money for quality.

I once put a fisheye lens on an oscillosope and projected groovy wiggly patterns all over a planetarium dome. Same kinda quality, I suspect!

Still waiting for an opinion from information retrieval on this idea.
