Woohoo, I guess we won't be stuck with that crappy Homer "11" packaging! simpsonschannel.com has what might be the standard box art if you're interested.

is the krusty head going to be the same as the other heads?

the pic on amazon looks like the plastic head but on a full box, not head shaped.

this is exactly what it is, a plastic box with a "3-d" head shape on the outside of the box with a clear slp case over that.

this is the 3rd type of case this series will e released in.

doesnt bother me but I know some need everything exactly the same.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: "The Simpsons" The Complete Eleventh Season

On Target's "Upcoming Releases" sign in the DVD section, they showed the standard package art, which is merely Krusty against a blue background--no 3-D head crap. And Target's ad next week mentions both a regular version and a limited version for the same price.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: "The Simpsons" The Complete Eleventh Season

The regular version popped up very very late in the scheme of things. I prefer the regular edition but had preordered the head version a week or so before the regular one was posted. Oh well.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: "The Simpsons" The Complete Eleventh Season

The lack of standard edition art, the difficulty in finding the standard edition, and the extra 5 bucks it costs on Amazon is what led me to not pre-order Season 11. Instead, I'll pick it up somewhere tomorrow.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: "The Simpsons" The Complete Eleventh Season

I have learned that Fox didn't make the availability info of the "standard" set very obvious to retailers and wholesalers, so if you don't find this at your store anytime too soon it would not surprise me.

I can tell you that the UPC code for the "plain" box is 024543557708 (whereas the UPC code for the "Limited Edition Krusty Head" box is 024543515609). In case that helps.

These are both "USA" versions, and are not to be confused with the Canadian "bilingual" versions (UPC's 024543515616 for Krusty-head and 024543557715 for plain).

I felt the same exact way. It's amazon's loss if you ask me. Because if you log on, you can only find the Krusty's head version (as of this writing). So I guess I'll just have to look at BestBuy or somethin'...

I heard that they are using cardboard-sleeves to house the discs. If this is true i might reconsider purchase

the 3-d head version does appear to have a folded sleeve contraption inside

I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: "The Simpsons" The Complete Eleventh Season

It's true... folded cardboard sleeve. The discs are wedged in the sleeves and are really difficult to get out. Fox uses slimcases for all their other releases now, why not The Simpsons?

Re: TCFHE Press Release: "The Simpsons" The Complete Eleventh Season

I got the "head" version yesterday from Amazon. I didn't like the way it stuck out, but I discovered that you can just peel the head off the box, and then it has the same cover as the non-head version. I didn't like the cardboard sleeve packaging, so I was wondering if the non-head verison had the same packaging. Since it looks like they just stuck the head on the box, I doubt that the packaging is different, but if it is, I will be replacing my set.
If anyone gets the non-head version, let me know if the packaging is the same.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: "The Simpsons" The Complete Eleventh Season

In regards to removing the "3D Head" part of the package:

I've heard from some people that the "regular" art (the one I show at TSoD) is under there. I've heard from others that it's just empty under there.

I guess it depends on how your particular copy was manufactured. So, before you go mauling your box, be aware.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: "The Simpsons" The Complete Eleventh Season

That's pretty lame...everything about this release has been totally off, from the delay to the lack of packaging information...odd considering how it's almost universally considered the worst season.

I hate how this show isn't using slimcases yet. Hell, they could even do four singles for all I care. I applaud them for saving shelf space but cheap packaging isn't the way to do it.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: "The Simpsons" The Complete Eleventh Season

The non-head version is in an accordion folded monstrosity with the discs slipped in the cardboard sleeves... so I guess it's the same as the head version.

For some reason, since the limited edition heads started, Fox has been putting the Simpsons discs in the worst inner packaging imaginable. two slim cases would do the job, and probably cost less than all this specialty crap they come up with (IMO).

Be careful at Best Buy. The local one is charging ten dollars more for the non-head version. I'm not sure if this is national or not. It makes no sense that the non-3D packaging costs more than the special packaging. Target has both versions for the same price.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: "The Simpsons" The Complete Eleventh Season

I got the regular version at Target...yes, it's neat that they make so much original art for these sets, but two double slims could have some nice inlay art. Besides, if this is a space-saving measure...the How I Met Your Mother season 3 set I also picked up is slightly smaller with its two slimcases.

Besides, didn't they learn from the season 6 debacle how anal retentive Simpsons fans are about the DVD packaging?

My guess, judging by the latest "Futurama" movie releases, is that Groening and co. are now into "Green" packaging. The Futurama movies are housed in cardboard sleeves as well.

I ordered the Krusty head the other day but haven't received it yet. I haven't seen either box yet, Wal-mart had space on the shelves for this but they were empty, I'm going to be disappointed that the head package isn't going to be like the last ones. The inner packaging sounds terrible, I can just see the discs getting scratched up. I'm just glad to be getting the episodes

What the hell is the point? They're DVD covers, it's not like people are gonna just keep the discs and throw the cover out into the forest. In fact, people might be more inclined to do so when the cover is so crappy.

Because one day, no matter how many years off, all of our DVD collections will be in landfills. The cardboard sleeves will decompose, and the plastic ones won't.

Re: TCFHE Press Release: "The Simpsons" The Complete Eleventh Season

Heh....that coated cardboard will likely take almost as long as plastic to decompose...if it ever does decompose.

Things that are expected to be durable and have a long lifespan should be made of materials that are durable...or they'll end up in the landfill a lot sooner. Save the "green" stuff for disposable items or items that have a short lifespan- not something that people will keep for decades. That's just contributing to the "disposable" culture. Talk about bass ackwards!

Oh..and if anyone needs/wants season 10- it's finally on sale at Amazon for $20.99 - Just ordered my copy!

That's just what I was thinking. I can't understand why the release of this season has been fraught with so many little issues.

I just hope that one day, probably in 2020 or something, TCFHE release the complete ultimate super-duper Simpsons complete series set and I can get rid of the mixed-packaging monstrosity that is my current Simpsons DVD shelf. If only they'd stuck with regular digipaks, or better yet dual-slimcases, all the way through.

They want to be enviromental by not using trays, but making a plastic face and a extra plastic-cover no one wants is OK? Don't buy it

It's either that or they wanted to shrink the packaging by using the cardboard interior to save on shelf space. Considering it only saved about an inch of space, I tend to think it's that wanted more environmental friendly packaging (like the Futurama DVDs).

We should try contacting Fox and give them some feedback so they fix this for season 12 and maybe even make proper Season 11 packaging
