Re: NYT confirms upcoming Disney Platinum titles coming to Blu-ray
Looking forward to Pinocchio, Snow White, and Beauty and the Beast in stunning HD. One thing I like is that they mentioned a two year window.

Just in time for my son to be old enough to enjoy them.

This is why some thought Blu would win; The Mouse that ROARED!!!
The 800 lb home video gorilla has just entered the room (HD theater room, that is! ;-) ).
I think "B&TB" off that list will be the BIGGEST improvement over SD!

The problem with that is that the artwork was only intended for photography, not display by itself.

Thought I remember from the SD Days that "THoND" R2 was clearer (less artifacts) than the R1. Guess its a title by title basis?

I don't believe that it was Mr. Harris that said that.

From what I understand they are already doing this. One of the first things John Lasseter did when he took over the creative reins at Disney was to close down Disney's in house digital animation unit and restart the traditional animation department.
From what I understand, the Goofy short "How to Hook Up Your Home Theater" was the first film to come out of the new traditional animation unit. And if that is in fact the case then in my opinion they are off to a great start.

Re: NYT confirms upcoming Disney Platinum titles coming to Blu-ray
If Fantasia does not have the option to hear Deems Taylor's voice (besides the lost audio parts) or the uncut Pastoral segment, it's going to be difficult to want this. Fantasia is on my top list of BluRays I'd like, but it needs to be the original uncut version for real. Slap a disclaimer on it, have branching, etc. Just don't put "Original and Uncut" on the cover while re-dubbing Taylor, cutting out footage, and cropping shots. It was dishonest in 2000, it'll be dishonest in 2009/2010.

I'd be perfectly happy if they reinstated the "offending" scenes by way of seamless branching; that way, we keep the PC forces happy, and the footage is still available for those who want to see it.

Yes. The Digital Bits reported that it was delayed from this year.

Of those titles, I'm most looking forward to 'Beauty and The Beast'.....absolutely love that film. To have it on Blu-ray with a dramatic image improvement would make me very happy. Hopefully this Platinum edition will have everything that the Platinum DVD had.
Recently watched- BSG: Season 4.0[BD], Starship Troopers 3: Marauder[BD], The Happening[BD], Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen (IMAX)[BD], An American Werewolf In London[BD]
Currently watching- Heroes: Season 1[BD], Michael Palin: Pole To Pole, Battlestar Galactica[BD], Magnum P.I.: Season 7

It should be improved dramatically indeed. The colors were all wrong in the dvd, I hope they fix that for the Blu-Ray.
And of course Fantasia needs to be uncut, that goes without saying.
